http://visitsandverse.blogspot.com/2011/12/we-visit-boulder-colorado-and-colorado.html
Monday, December 19, 2011. A Visit to Boulder, Colorado and Colorado University. Last week Paige and I flew to Colorado. It was my first time to the state, but Paige had been there once with our church youth group (about 7 years ago) for a back-packing adventure. We rented a car at the Denver airport and drove about 45 minutes to our hotel in Boulder. Mark had made the reservations for us using his points. It was the first time I'd rented a car without Mark along. Afterward we ate here. Subscribe to: Pos...

Visits and Verse: Parker Brothers meets the Art Institute of Chicago
http://visitsandverse.blogspot.com/2012/01/parker-brothers-meets-art-institute-of.html
Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Parker Brothers meets the Art Institute of Chicago. My family played games as I was growing up. Many games. Masterpiece by Parker Brothers was my mom's favorite and we played it a lot. To be honest, I often groaned and moaned about it. Turns out, as I look back, all those games of Masterpiece had an impact and it's about as close to an art museum as I got with my family as I was growing up. Old Man with a Gold Chain. 1631 by Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn. El Greco, 1577-79. Sue, ...

Thursday, February 16, 2012. A Good Book Can Take Us All Sorts of Places. Recently I ran into the phrase,. 8230;All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well" while reading Madeleine L'Engle's A Circle of Quiet. The words kept coming back to my mind over and over the next few days. I decided to look them up and see where they originated. Here it is below written another way. I like seeing it and reading it like that. Have you read a quotable book lately? Suef, I have bee...

Visits and Verse: A Poem, "Veiled Lady"
http://visitsandverse.blogspot.com/2012/02/poem-veiled-lady-by-lori-lipsky.html
Tuesday, February 21, 2012. A Poem, "Veiled Lady". A tribute to sculptor, Raffaelo Monti. In Monti’s block of marble. Hard, cold, dense. Hid the portraiture of a virgin. From the hands of the trompe-l’oeil master. He polished shoulders smooth. Shadowed eyes, softened brows. Hard stone transformed to delicate. In the sculptor’s hands. Note: Trompe-l’oeil is French. The plan is to return after spring break. Look for notification on Facebook, or sign up for e-mail delivery. Posted by Lori Lipsky. The sculpt...
