“Why do you do it to yourself?” | 100 years walking
https://100yearswalking.wordpress.com/2015/06/15/why-do-you-do-it-to-yourself
8220;Why do you do it to yourself? June 15, 2015. June 16, 2015. After blood tests and an ECG, I have been decreed fit and healthy by my GP so on Saturday I set off for a long walk in the rain. I didn’t particularly. To walk in the rain but it was the only opportunity for exercise after a week of work and general busy-ness. It was one of those dark and murky mornings where constant low-level drizzle was punctuated by sporadic cloudbursts. I walk because it’s free. I walk because I’m free. I walk because ...
Peril at Pearl Farm | 100 years walking

Peril at Pearl Farm. March 31, 2015. June 3, 2015. This was partly down to poor signage but also because our concentration was interrupted by some menacing long-horned cattle. As the sun went down we traipsed round and round, trapped in a never-ending series of fields, until we finally flung ourselves under electric fences and found an alternative route back. We were determined to avoid making the same mistake. We would walk every step of the Sandstone Trail. We would not be defeated by mere cattle.
One week to go! | 100 years walking
https://100yearswalking.wordpress.com/2015/05/17/one-week-to-go
One week to go! May 17, 2015. May 17, 2015. In one week’s time I will be reclining on a deckchair on Brighton beach, glass of wine in one hand and bag of salt-and-vinegared-chips in the other. Well, that’s the plan. I will certainly be. Brighton as the hotel is booked and waiting for me. The issue of. I get to Brighton is less clear. As you know, I am aiming to walk there – but at times I’ve been wondering if I will end up doing some of the journey by car. This entry was posted in Walking. That’s g...

London to Brighton 2015. May 28, 2015. June 3, 2015. This is a long blog post – but I promise you it’s worth it if you want to know what happened on our little Bank Holiday stroll. So settle down with a cup of tea, put your feet up and invest 5 minutes of your life in reading the first ever guest blog post from Caralyn! She took the photos too). Ardingley College – and at just after 7.30pm, we were met by Michael and the welcome banner, and my head torch! I said my goodbyes as another pair of head torche...
Race to the Stones | 100 years walking

Race to the Stones. July 19, 2015. July 19, 2015. To Wiltshire. However, this is exactly what I ended up doing last weekend. Caralyn and I had been keen to try “Race to the Stones” since she saw it advertised last year. After traipsing through the more suburban sections of the route from London to Brighton, who could fail to be captivated by the idea of a scenic walk along an ancient footpath to a stone circle? At the Start line – cheerful, excited, full of beans. If you know us, please do consider spons...

Alton Towers – The Hollow Hand Puppet

The Hollow Hand Puppet. May 1, 2014. July 30, 2015. I had been a few times before, but never with such a good bunch of people. Though Ben and Jonny had met Beth a few months before at a Little Comets concert. These might be THE Alton Towers…I’m not sure. Jonny’s seemingly endless supply of 2 for 1 vouchers came in handy as we managed to save a near 100 between us. Curse theme parks and their overpriced admission fees. The cost to park was 6 alone! I will be writing here again soon, I’m just not sur...
