March 29, 2015. Palm Sunday, a religious holiday, just happens to be the week before Easter when the Easter Bunny had been known to show up at our house. On Palm Sundays, everyone returning from Catholic mass carried a handful of cut palm leaves. I didn’t know at the time that palms didn’t grow anywhere near Detroit? Of course, since we were four or five years old, my cousin Danny and I looked forward to Easter Sundays, and it was for all the right reasons; sugar. Jelly beans, marshmallow chickens, candy...

June 9, 2015. There were real live cows to be seen not so far from our new front porch, my Grandma Hart’s former front porch, where she had lived with my Uncle Louis until her death in late 1950. My new roommate, my uncle Lu La, would take the place of my Aunt Inez with whom I had shared an attic bedroom on 32. Street all these years. Early Indian in Training. It turns out I had a little Robin Hood in me as well so the bow and arrow was doubly attractive. My Dad read me some of the Robin Hood adventu...

July 3, 2015. Of Roller Skates and Airplanes. Idol: n 1 : image of god 2 : object of devotion. I didn’t engage with Mel about his hobby with model airplanes back then, or ever for that matter. I was shy and it was a new environment where I now lived. And, let’s face it, a ten year old in the fourth grade, doesn’t walk up to a High School kid and say, howdy. We wonder and admire from afar and that is what I did. A brief look ahead. A true Story and a good time to share):. Your Dad built that didn’t he?

July 20, 2015. The next summer we spent on the farm, Dan and I would take off every morning running across the field of tomatoes or melon, whatever crop they had in, to run and visit the Jetts. May 24, 2015. A few days ago(May 21. My Cousin Leo would have celebrated his 75. Birthday. Like me, he was born in 1940, but I didn’t arrive till mid-December. I’m still a little sketchy about how, and when exactly, I was inserted into the Hart family. But, that is a part of another story altogether. The above picture, I believe, was taken at Leo’s 3. Birthday party in front of his house on 32. The prayer of course was scary enough, as I remember it…. Rules on wearing a Scapular:. I can’t say much ...
