1967 GT500 Tribute Project: Trunk Lid
http://www.gt500tribute.com/2013/06/trunk-lid.html
Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Installed the fiberglass trunk lid. The torsion bar works to open the lid but flexes quite a bit. Some installations I have seen a center bracket holding the bar. I will have to research if this will help and whether I can safely put screws in the fiberglass that will hold it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Flip Down Gas Cap installation. 1967 GT500 Tribute Project: Taillight Panel Assembly
http://www.gt500tribute.com/2013/06/taillight-panel-assembly.html
Sunday, June 23, 2013. The first step to installing the taillights is to assemble the panel separately then install it onto the car. The taillight panel parts. The taillight parts include the Shelby lenses. The chrome bezels and the fiberglass taillight panel which I had painted the same color as the car. Screw the threaded rods into the frame. The bottom part is the 1967/68 Cougar taillight bucket housing and can be purchased from:. Http:/ www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/c7wb-13440-a.html. Dash pad clean up...

1967 GT500 Tribute Project: June 2013

Friday, June 28, 2013. Flip Down Gas Cap installation. The flip down gas cap itself is tricky to put together. A good video is here:. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? The small screws that attach the gas cap to the car are different than used on standard gas caps. They are recessed and short sheet metal screws. I opted to get some from the local supply shop instead of paying the extra amount online. The filler tube goes in from the outside and remember to put the gasket in between the flange and the car.

1967 GT500 Tribute Project: Rear Valance and Backup Lights
http://www.gt500tribute.com/2013/06/rear-valance-and-backup-lights.html
Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Rear Valance and Backup Lights. Rear valance installed and new backup lights installed. We tried to install the backup lights with the rubber seals but one tore and the other was difficult in fitting the light into the groove. I think they look a bit ugly. Installed the lights without the gaskets. I think they look sharper. Don't think there will be an issue with moisture since the lights are exposed in the back anyway. Back up lights installed. http://www.gt500tribute.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 4, 2012. The car is now back home in my garage where I will re-assemble it piece by piece. Here is a nice comparison of before and after:. After I would have never been able to do this myself. A lot of body cutting, welding, sanding, painting, buffing, etc. went into the car to get it to this point. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 1967 GT500 Tribute Project: June 2012
http://www.gt500tribute.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 14, 2012. Big mistake, wrong taillight panel. I made a bad error and way back when, bought a 68 taillight panel instead of a 67 and didn't realize it until after the welders finished putting it on the car. The taillights are very different between the 1968 Shelby and the 1967 Shelby so they don't fit into those slots correctly. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Big mistake, wrong taillight panel. 1967 GT500 Tribute Project: Back in the garage all painted and ready for assembly
http://www.gt500tribute.com/2013/06/back-in-garage-all-painted-and-ready.html
Saturday, June 1, 2013. Back in the garage all painted and ready for assembly. The GT500 tribute chassis is finally back in the garage. The painter said it is best not to apply the Shelby stripes until after it is resting on its own suspension and wheels. What can happen is if the stripes are applied first, then it is put on suspension, the car will shift and settle a bit and the stripes will not be aligned correctly.
