My Life: September 2012
http://erin-gallagher.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 4, 2012. A spring close to our campsite. Relaxing with Middle and South Sister in the background. Fun around camp in the morning. It was around 80 during they day in the sun, but got below freezing at night, definitely fall weather! Aaron and I near a pretty stream. The huckleberries must have been late this year, and we were a bit early for them. But we still managed to find some ripe ones. Aaron at Husband Lake. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Saturday, November 16, 2013. Day 8: Trapiche Tour, Cheese Factory and Bat Museum - Exploring Santa Elena. A peek at their beautiful money. The yellow five is missing, it had a monkey on it. Painted ox carts have a lot of history in Costa Rica. A family would hire a painter to paint their cart - the more wealth, the more detailed and elaborate the painting. We went on a trapiche (mill) tour, and learned about coffee, chocolate and sugar cane. We ate fresh coffee beans, they were tasty! This machine vibrat...

Sticker Encounters | Heart In Oregon Encounters

Heart In Oregon Encounters. The stores from the Trails of Oregon. Where are stickers being left when. I spotted one on an SUV in front of me at a red light, all the way in Kansas City, MO! They turned into chipotle, and I followed them, almost got out of my car and asked them where they got it. I chickened out at the last minute and waited till I came home for a visit to hunt down a sticker of my very own😀. My failed attempts to move to Arizona and California made me realize that Oregon really is my hom...

My Life: November 2012
http://erin-gallagher.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2012. I cut them into quarters - we'll do eighths for the next batch to speed up the process. We put them in the steamer juicer lined with a double layer of extra fine cheese cloth to catch particulates. Then let them steam. This is what the pears cook down too. Still lots of goodness here. So we ran it through the food mill to make baby food for Bennet. The good stuff coming out. The waste after it's "pooped" out. Monday, November 26, 2012. What a nice long weekend! We found oursel...

My Life: August 2013

Monday, August 26, 2013. We are going on an adventure! Two week adventure by backpack. This has been scaled back, but some things are missing too - like rain boots, travel books and a map. Saturday, August 17, 2013. We pulled honey last weekend. Aaron getting the smoker going. The middle hive pulled apart. We had a huge. Aaron with our honey! We added in Apiguard to treat for varroa mites, you can see the little boxes we put in the middle to make room for it. Honey taking over our kitchen. We headed to B...

My Life: Day 7: Arenal to Monte Verde
http://erin-gallagher.blogspot.com/2013/11/day-7-arenal-to-monte-verde.html
Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Day 7: Arenal to Monte Verde. Today we head from Arenal to the Monte Verde area. The fastest way is to cross the lake and drive the rest of the way. We got up and had breakfast, then headed to Arenal National Park to hike around. There are signs in the parking lot instructing you to back in to your parking spot for a fast get away if needed. Kind of crazy. Although the volcano is unfortunately dormant right now. There is a man made lake - Lake Arenal right there. We then stopp...

My Life: May 2013
http://erin-gallagher.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 27, 2013. We worked our butts off this weekend and made good progress on the coop. Thank goodness for sun breaks in all the rain we've been having. Two more sections of wall to put up and all the windows but one (along with lots of other things). I didn't get a picture of the window we put in tonight, it is to Aaron's right in the photo. The babies are already loving it! And practicing laying eggs! Thursday, May 23, 2013. Sunday, May 12, 2013. Labels: Aaron the Builder. Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

My Life: April 2013
http://erin-gallagher.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 27, 2013. They're getting pretty big! Still hoping this is not a rooster. I am not going to be able to handle that well. This weather has been great for letting them run around. Little bit of a photo bomb. Rooster, you are fine and all, but I'm ready for you to move on. Counting the days until this one is old enough to give to a friend. Seriously. Please be a girl! Their new tiny coop! I went to run some errands and came home to this. How Buffer? We haven't done much work on the yard, but...

My Life: October 2013

Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Day 4: Tortuguero to La Fortuna. We booked a shuttle trip from Tortuguero to Fortuna for $55, but because it was the low season there weren't enough people to make the trip go. It's a long story, but someone ended up giving us a ride all the way in his own car, after the early boat filled up and then we consequently lost our second planned connection. I think he was a tour guide? I'm not sure, but he was super nice and saved the day. (and didn't murder us - bonus! That foot b...
