As every semester my students read The Scarlet Ibis by Hurst. The question of responsibility, fault and guilt of children is a prominent issue. It is an issue close to home for me. Today I did something different. I called my brother to ask forgiveness for wrongs I had done him when we were kids. Not just to apologize, but to ask forgiveness. The two are different.
