We also went to find the building for our French course starting tomorrow morning. Here are some pictures! A house with an art exhibit in the middle of UNIL. We found the building for tomorrow! Facing the wrong way…. 8230;made sure to look at the camera this time. The cloud was lower than the top of the mountain today. First adventures into Flon.

Adventures in the Alps. First adventures into Flon. January 30, 2016. When I found the correct metro stop by myself – seems easy but there are so many different entrances! Then we went to an electronics store where my buddy translated french for 20 minutes to help to figure out how a prepaid SIM card works. I finally figured it out and now have a data plan set up and can receive calls and messages. I am now able to find my way on google maps again which is a great help! Back to the Lake Discovering UNIL.

March | 2015 | Polished Cutlery

https://polishedcutlery.wordpress.com/2015/03

March 12, 2015. March makes people crazy. I haven’t quite put my finger on it yet, as to why this is…but I have observed it first hand. People have now started to come out of hibernation. Winter is almost over (hopefully), and people don’t want to stay in their houses and eat kraft dinner anymore. So they have all decided to make my day and keep me company. Impressing People for a Living. I Hope I’ve Served You Well. Follow Polished Cutlery on WordPress.com. Adventures in the Alps. A Pineapple for You.

November 26, 2014. Do you ever wonder what goes on in the back of the kitchen at restaurants? When those doors open and for a split second you get a glimpse of what were doing? Within a restaurant, there are not many places to hide from customers, but within our kitchen, we are free to be ourselves. By this I mean, talk about our customers as much as we would like, and no one will ever know. Sometimes, this is how you feel as the new girl…. Equality in the Restaurant Industry | Polished Cutlery

https://polishedcutlery.wordpress.com/2015/02/17/equality-in-the-restaurant-industry

Equality in the Restaurant Industry. February 17, 2015. I had a family friend send me an article. The other day about a families experience with a waitress. This article has stuck in my mind for the past week, because I think the underlying message from it is very strong. As a waitress, you see all different types of people. The polite, rude, happy, sad, angry, and people with an array of disabilities. But regardless of someones characteristics, it is my job to ensure people get equal treatment. But then...

The Stories | Polished Cutlery

https://polishedcutlery.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/the-stories

April 7, 2015. My job is the best place for someone who loves to eavesdrop. I am basically paid to listen to peoples conversations…well…not really…but thats what I choose to do with my time. But sometimes, Its hard to make yourself look busy over a four hour shift, when there is nothing to do. So I listen to people talk…Of course I can’t let them know what I’m doing. So I only clear a few plates at a time, and very slowly, to catch all the details. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Follow ...

My Most Prized Possession. April 13, 2015. There is one item in this world, that a server could not live without…What could this be? Now, this would be the ideal shift:. Unfortunately, it rarely happens. Personally, if I go to work with an apron full of pens, I feel like I have my life together. Most of the time however, I am limited to 1 or 2 a shift, and this shift never ends well. Why? The lesson here, never give out your favourite pen. And I didn’t do anything mean, or rude. I was very polite to my server. If any other person looked at my experience, they would think I was a great customer. But from the perspective of a waitress, I was one of those people that they secretly hate. So we were campers. (See my blog on Gossip Time. The Amazingly Stupid Questions.
