A qwriting.qc.cuny.edu blog. Archive for November, 2010. 6 responses so far. The dance that caught my attention was the clip from Showstopper. Showstopper is a well known dance competition. The name of the performance was Mozart. The group that performed picked a well known piece of music and included many complex and intricate dance steps. The choreography seemed to go perfectly with the music and the use of cannons throughout the dance was absolutely captivating. The formations in the dance were very t...

A qwriting.qc.cuny.edu blog. While watching this video it made me think of a tribal dance. They all danced in unison. Through out the dance the chanting started off very low and continued to increase as the dance went on. The effects of snapping, stomping, and clapping all added a more dramatic effect and really kept me focused and intrigued. By batsheva on November 7, 2010. 2 Responses to “Black Grace”. Live, Love, Dance! A qwriting.qc.cuny.edu blog. Laquo; Piano Phase Dance. After reading the chapter on rhythm in Doris Humphrey’s. The Art of Making Dances. A few things resonated with me. First, I enjoyed reading about the four sources of rhythmical organization. These four, the breathing, singing, speaking aparatus, the unconscious rhythms, the propelling mechanisms and the emotional rhythms show that the whole person is involved when creating a dance. It makes the dance more organic. From your own site.

Live, Love, Dance! A qwriting.qc.cuny.edu blog. Laquo; Critiquing Dance. Of the three dances that I watched, Piano Phase Dance was the most interesting to me. At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch the entire piece, because the moves were very monotonous, very linear. I decided to watch the whole thing. I waited to see if anything different was going to happen and nothing did, at first. This entry was posted on Monday, November 8th, 2010 at 12:43 pm Filed under Uncategorized. From your own site.
