http://www.littlemsbossy.com/2014/12/thanksgiving-for-pyromaniacs.html
Hello, lovelies, can you believe it's already December? We just got back yesterday from a spontaneous mini-vacation in Barcelona, which has inexplicably left me feeling jet-lagged despite the lack of time difference (I'm blaming it on 10pm dinners—how do those Spaniards do it? I can't wait to tell you all about it, but first I wanted to share a little something from our Thanksgiving celebration last week. For CM's birthday this year, my parents sent him a special pot for making Feuerzangenbowle. Then you...

Belle of Babble: Go Back To High School....
http://belleofbabble.blogspot.com/2012/04/go-back-to-high-school.html
Southern Belle by birth. Babble by choice. Saturday, April 21, 2012. Go Back To High School. As Frankie Avalon told Frenchie in Grease… it’s time to go back to High School. I was looking over my bookcases this past weekend and came across my high school yearbooks. I went into my Jr. year (1998) book and had a ball reading all of the entries written by my friends. They range from the quintessential “It’s great knowing you, have a great summer! Floor balcony to the living room below during an amazing rendi...

Oxygen Jukebox: ba dunk-a-dunk
http://oxygenjukebox.blogspot.com/2008/12/ba-dunk-dunk.html
Saturday, December 6, 2008. Today was very nice.we spent it on a tour of the Parliament building. Probably the most noticeable building in Budapest with its Gothic design and prominent vantage point on the bank of the Danube) where we saw the crown of Saint Stephen (István). The crown dates to about 1,000 years ago and was held for safe keeping in the United States (in Fort Knox) during the Communist era. Nobody knows why the little cross is all bent up on top. And at the Museum of Ethnography. A Little ...

Discipline and new works | Life During Wartime
https://andrewnienaber.wordpress.com/2010/12/13/discipline-and-new-works
Discipline and new works. Like so many other times in my life, I had a good idea with this blog, and then I just let it die on the operating table. Well, I intend to make some vain and feeble attempt to rectify that now. This is, of course, not to be construed as a promise of regular updates, but rather as a half-hearted resolution to myself to try a little harder to be productive. We’ll all see how that turns out. Snobbery | Life During Wartime
https://andrewnienaber.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/snobbery
The higher the book appears on the list when that keyword is searched. And I guess I want to be close to the top of the list when someone searches Grey’s Anatomy slash or cooking with dung beetles. So, what have I seen? And that’s what bugs me. I mean, hey, am I really quantifiably better than that? Or am I just being a pretentious douche? That’s, uhthat’s a rhetorical question. Feel free not to answer. You’re currently reading “Snobbery,” an entry on Life During Wartime. March 23, 2011 / 2:55 pm. You ar...

The director’s notes debate | Life During Wartime
https://andrewnienaber.wordpress.com/2010/05/04/the-directors-notes-debate
The director’s notes debate. Many times I have seen (and many more times worked on) productions with deep thematic concepts that drastically effected my understanding of the piece, not all of which were apparent to the typical audience member. Admittedly, sometimes this is simply because the director, design team and performers simply failed to carry the concept across. Oftentimes, though, there are numerous other factors that impede a full understanding. All too often I have heard audience members ̵...
