GET IN THE FLOW – 7th FLOW SurfYogaSamba Weekend Retreat in Baler. 3 days of fun and excitement. 72 hours with new friends and new experiences. But leave it to me to wait over a month to write this post. One of these days I’ll stop procrastinating. Until then, here was the weekend. After a brief sleep through the dark hours of the early morning, we woke up to sunrise and the amazing landscape of the Philippines. Even though it was a long bus ride, its hard to get tired of views like this. Just before din...

KING SOLOMON DIVE RESORT – Mabini | See My Philippines

KING SOLOMON DIVE RESORT – Mabini. I’m back in Mabini and staying at the King Solomon Dive Resort. We dropped my mom off in Mabini town proper where she visited and stayed with her friends. My dad and I head straight to the resort for some much needed rest after a few days of being in transit. The rooms are very basic. I think the idea is that you’ll be out in the water most of the day and will only use the rooms at night. It was good enough for me. The rooms had both an aircon and a fan on a...On one si...

INTERVIEW – Surfista Travels. A couple months ago I was fortunate to meet (on Twitter) Elaine Abonal from Surfista Travels, a new company that just started this year. I wanted to feature her here on the website because I think she is doing some awesome work and I think you should all check out it out. Luckily, I was able to get Elaine to take some time and answer a few questions for us just before her first Surfing Tour (which Sold Out). Lets get right to it. Who is Surfista Travels? He owns his own surf...

EAGLE POINT RESORT – Mabini. At the end of my first trip to the Philippines, I thought it would be a good idea to treat myself to some serious relaxation. The plan was to lay around in the sun, drink beer and basically do absolutely nothing for a few days. Luckily, I found the Eagle Point Resort in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas. As a whole, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Accomodations were clean and quiet. There were only a few channels on tv (cause you’re supposed to be outside! 8211; Reef Pool.

SURFISTA TRAVELS SURF TRIP – San Juan. Somewhere along the lines I started following @SurfistaTravels. At the time, Surfista Travels. Was a brand new company with a website that was still under construction but I knew I wanted to work with her because she was very enthusiastic. Even on Twitter with 140 characters of text, her happy attitude was contagious. I made contact with Elaine and we started helping each other out with our newly formed companies. Around 9am, everyone headed to the beach for our fir...

DIVE SOLANA RESORT Anilao, Mabini. Rest and relaxation at Dive Solana in Batangas – My mother was just arriving in the Philippines so I picked her up at the airport and headed down to Mabini, Batangas. Dive Solana resort is situated at the southern most point of the peninsula, on the coast facing Tingloy on Maricaban Island. It’s probably about 15km from the Anilao Pier along a windy road that follows the water. I was hoping to use the WiFi to get some work done, but unfortunately the connection wasn’t s...

DAWAL BEACH RESORT – Candelaria. Family trip to Dawal Beach Resort in Candelaria, Zambales. I was fortunate to have my parents come and visit me while living here in the Philippines. It was my Dad’s first time to the country and was great to see him experience the new culture. We were staying in Pampanga near our relatives in Floridablanca when it was brought to our attention that a couple of my Mom’s nieces were going to school in Candelaria, Zambales. Days later we hit the road. The restaurant was pret...

Thursday, March 3, 2011. This Saturday (March 5th) marks the Balinese New Years also known as Nyepi. There are several parts and rituals to the celebration including:. Melasti: This happens a few days before Nyepi and involves the purification of all sacred objects. Taken from all the temples, the objects are then purified in the sea. It would have also been very interesting to experience a quiet Bali - no cars honking, no scooters whizzing by, no one screaming at each other. But, because of a few differ...
