An intentional journey in my fortieth year. Monday, July 28, 2014. Rocky Top always brings you home. Last week we loaded up the car, and I do mean loaded, kidnapped our oldest neice and nephew and pointed the car South. We were headed for a whirlwind tour of the hot spots in Tennessee. In true HollySarah fashion we cram packed our schedule, err, I mean vacation. Ok, so yes, there was a schedule. And at times it was tight, I’m not gonna lie. A stop on The Hill, a first for Sweet Sarah, Taylor and Cal.

Spreading scriptural holiness throughout the Church. Sin makes even our breath stink. June 26, 2015. 8220;For false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.” (Psalm 27:12). I’m reading a wonderful book of daily meditations on Psalm 27 called. A Shelter in the Time of Storm. By Paul David Tripp. Today’s reading focused on the above verse, capturing well the degree to which sin has so corrupted the world around us and within us that we can actually. Paul Tripp writes,. My thinking ch...

An intentional journey in my fortieth year. Thursday, September 4, 2014. Ok, here we go.in no particular order. 11 Today in the restaurant bathroom a grandmother was cheering on her grandson for peeing in the potty. I think we should all cheer each other on when we are in there. I mean a little "atta girl" every once in a while, might not be a bad thing for the world. D Is the no white after Labor Day rule still in effect? I mean, I would seriously. Makes me cry every time I watch it. It's SO good...

Mission Statement | umc holiness
https://umcholiness.wordpress.com/mission-statement
Spreading scriptural holiness throughout the Church. We believe that we cannot lead anyone to a place we have not first been ourselves, and therefore it is essential we return to the basics. Before we can begin spreading scriptural holiness throughout the land we must first spread it (again) through our churches. The words of Saint Peter have perhaps never been more appropriate:. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God (1 Peter 4:17). May God revive us again! Notify me of new co...

An intentional journey in my fortieth year. Thursday, April 24, 2014. 4 I'm sitting in a car dealership and I'm fascinated by how people are entertaining themselves while waiting. One woman.a COMPLETE art gallery setup. Apparently she's planning on being here through July. A Who watches these daytime shows? I mean really. Do you think tv hosts that have mid-day shows feel like they are the books in the alcove of Barnes and Noble on 82% discount? Socks with flip flops? I'm close to that. 68 I'm still at t...

Church Coffee: Does God Actually Do Anything?
http://churchcoffee.blogspot.com/2014/03/does-god-actually-do-anything.html
A collection of theological percolations. Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Does God Actually Do Anything? Sermons often leave us with a call to action. As a result of the message we’ve just heard, we’re supposed to do X. This can be a very powerful way of getting people to be about God’s purposes in the world. The question I have more and more, though, is, “What does God. Do in this scenario? Whether or not I can or should do anything, what have I learned about the agency of God? David F. Watson. Cowboys Win Cl...

The Future of American Methodism: 5 Predictions. Posted by Kevin Watson. Asymp; 15 Comments. Methodism in America is in the midst of change. It is not yet clear how exactly American Methodism is changing or whether change will lead to a bright future for my own denomination in particular (The United Methodist Church). But it does seem clear that it is changing. And so I’ve found my mind wandering again and again to this question: What is the future of Methodism in America? 4 As American Methodism passion...

Holy Conferencing: What Did Wesley Mean? (Part 2) | Vital Piety
https://vitalpiety.com/2013/07/18/holy-conferencing-what-did-wesley-mean-part-2
Holy Conferencing: What Did Wesley Mean? Posted by Kevin Watson. Asymp; 14 Comments. Holy conferencing seems to be one of the buzz words for contemporary United Methodism. This post is the second post on this topic. (It could be seen as the second of three posts, as an earlier post. Pointed out that Wesley himself did not use the phrase holy conferencing. ) The first post discussed the contemporary use of holy conferencing. What did Wesley mean by the phrase holy conferencing? Is it always in grace?
