Sonnets at 4 am. Thoughts of a poet working in West Michigan. Sunday, December 31, 2006. The End of the Year. This has been a strange and difficult year. A good one, too. I am not yet sure what to make of it I might sit down before dark and scratch together a list of what I am grateful for, perhaps a few resolutions. Meanwhile, gray sky and a cold rain. This seems the right sort of weather. Here's an excerpt from a letter dated December 31, 1869* from George Sand to Gustave Flaubert:. And "R. WILSON"?

Sonnets at 4 am. Thoughts of a poet working in West Michigan. Wednesday, November 29, 2006. I'm up early, walking the dogs in the dark and struggling through several different versions of a poem. The latest is on my laptop, but my eyes focus so poorly in the morning, I finally switched to the desktop, with its larger screen. It does feel good to get lost in the work again; to get away from whining, side issues and my own ego. One of my favorite books is The Writing Life. Posted by greg rappleye at 6:00 AM.
