For Reason's Sake: July 2009
http://forreasonssake.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 26, 2009. Iran Global Day of Action - Democracy at its Finest. Iran's government crackdown to forbid mourning fallen protestors just shows the desperation and insecurity of the current regime. They know they have no more rightful claim to govern, if they must counterfeit election results. Their people are against them. Even despite threats of bloodshed from Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, millions of protestors have come out in defiance. The Riggs Family Blog. Links to this post.

For Reason's Sake: Our Government
http://forreasonssake.blogspot.com/2009/07/our-government.html
Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Have you heard this one? One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot. Accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'. The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. The next morning when the barber went to. The Riggs Family Blog. For Reason's Sake: The Gates Arrest: Shakespearean Tragedy or Comedy of Errors?
http://forreasonssake.blogspot.com/2009/07/gates-arrest-shakespearean-tragedy-or.html
Sunday, July 26, 2009. The Gates Arrest: Shakespearean Tragedy or Comedy of Errors? I may be far off on what these two were thinking and feeling at the time, but on the surface it seems such a shame- another case of racial profiling- America should be past this, right? There seems here to be a parallel to Shakepeare's. The course, called 'Racial Profiling,' teaches about different cultures that officers could encounter in their community 'and how you don't want to single people out because of their ethni...

For Reason's Sake: Obama "Appalled and Outraged," but ... Surprised?
http://forreasonssake.blogspot.com/2009/07/obama-appalled-and-outraged-but.html
Thursday, July 16, 2009. Obama "Appalled and Outraged," but . Surprised? I've been mulling over this for a while. The latest news of Iranian national police tear gassing protesters at a prayer sermon this week was the impetus for my blogging about it now. Is President Obama truly naive enough to believe a national government so mired in hatred for the US in both rhetoric and action will change if we engage in some heart-to-heart talks? The UN Security Council has imposed three packages of sanctions again...

For Reason's Sake: "Unchecked Excess"
http://forreasonssake.blogspot.com/2009/09/unchecked-excess.html
Monday, September 14, 2009. Front page news today read: "Obama warns Wall Street against 'unchecked excess'." I had to laugh, because it came from Obama. In his own words, he said, "We will not go back to the days of reckless behavior and unchecked excess at the heart of this crisis.". Perhaps someone should have warned Obama (and the all too helpful legislative branch) about "unchecked excess.". I hope we live to see it happen! The Riggs Family Blog. Tuesday, January 3, 2012. In a Land of Freedom, Our First Duty is to Vote. So we're coming up on voting this year for a new president. Something you should know about me is that I take voting very seriously. It is a basic human right in any free and democratic country, and it is something we should treasure and exercise. Vote your mind, vote your heart, vote your soul, and VOTE! So for those who complain about government but refuse (out of protest? The Riggs Family Blog. Links to this post. Prior to this...

For Reason's Sake: March 2009
http://forreasonssake.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 9, 2009. A Moderate's Take on Obama's Plans. Though I disagree with much of what Obama stands for, I believe in reform, I believe in being hopeful about the future, and I believe in being supportive of what I can see will be beneficial for our country, regardless of party. It's always refreshing to hear non-partisan, thoughtful people comment on the president. I've found much about what he's done so far that's frustrated me endlessly, but I don't read the news hoping he will fail. As good a...
