Way down deep where the shadows are heavy. Chapter 1: A New Beginning. Dogbane Hollow after midnight was funereal. Porch lights glowed dimly in front of dark houses, the streets fell silent and empty, and even nature seemed to abandon all causes to disappear for a while. From the still and quiet town hall, soft, unremarkable music was filtered out into the ether of the town’s slumbering state from twin speakers affixed to either side of the building. It was the crying. No music on earth could erase it.
