Emily in [West] Central, America. The Life and Times of serving with The Porch. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Hope of the Earth [Jesus for President]. Within moments of Mitt Romney’s closing argument, my facebook feed was blowing up with responses to the comment about the United States being “the hope of the earth”. So let’s talk about hope. I had the awesome opportunity this week to hear Shane Claiborne speak at Whitworth. One of the co-founders of The Simple Way. Grave danger of misplacing our hope. In th...

Emily in [West] Central, America. The Life and Times of serving with The Porch. Monday, July 16, 2012. July 1st I simultaneously moved into a new apartment and started my new job at the Porch! Emily in [West] Central, America. The Life and Times of serving with The Porch. Monday, January 27, 2014. That's what a friend called me a week ago. It made me smile. Nice work, Preacher Lady.". He said that after I preached my first sermon. Let’s talk about names. I remember growing up with a little wooden plaque on my wall proclaiming that Emily means “industrious, diligent, hard working”. I remember thinking, “this is what it means to be Emily", and then living into tha...At this point there was some ...

Emily in [West] Central, America. The Life and Times of serving with The Porch. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Seeds are sprouting, growing, and finally being transplanted into the ground. Trees are blooming, producing beautiful blossoms and fragrances, causing my senses such excitement that my head cannot help sneezing, itching and blowing constantly. Babies are growing into children. The little boys I watch a few days a week are getting bigger, stronger, healthier, more independent. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Emily in [West] Central, America. The Life and Times of serving with The Porch. Wednesday, May 28, 2014. My Emmaus Road [A Journey in Pastoral Licensing]. I’d like to share a story with you. Although actually written as a sermon that I shared a few weeks ago, on Bloomsday Sunday, I’d like to share it with you as well, to give you a window into my Lenten journey. It’s long, but [hopefully] worth it. Here is the passage, in The Voice. That same day, two other disciples (not of the eleven). It’s all a...

A few weeks ago I was visited by my dear Lexie. She stayed for a week and a half and we did all sorts of fun things. It was soooo great to have Lexie around! Emily in [West] Central, America: August 2012
http://emilyincentralamerica.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Emily in [West] Central, America. The Life and Times of serving with The Porch. Friday, August 31, 2012. It's sweet to become a neighbor. Here in West Central, I'm trying to become more of a neighbor. It's crazy to me that I've already been living here for 2 months! So don't be alarmed if you hear me singing "Won't You Be My Neighbor? A little more often. Mister Rogers seemed to have some things figured out. Find a new one! My immediate response was - "no, I love my job, thanks anyway though spam email".
