the zesty baker: cupcake baking extravaganza
http://zestybaker.blogspot.com/2011/07/cupcake-baking-extravaganza.html
Sunday, July 10, 2011. Just looked at the date on this post and realized it is officially my half-birthday. I wasn't planning on this post being in honor of my half-birthday, but sometimes you have to find an excuse to bake {and eat. Cupcakes ALL week long. Earlier this week, I created a new recipe all by myself. Okay Wait. I probably should rephrase: I changed. A recipe that Jil originally created, all by myself, for the first time. I didn't even call her. Not once! Next, I made a S'mores Cupcake. I lov...

21st Centruy Learning: Today's Meet
http://21stcentruylearningwithaward.blogspot.com/2011/11/todays-meet.html
Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Monday was a Teacher Workday for schools on the traditional calendar. Our school had a Race to the Top meeting in the morning. During this meeting we were introduced to the website www.todaysmeet.com. I hope you can find a good way to implement this in your class as well. It may not be through i-touches or i-pads, but you could have your students use it in various ways in your computer lab or while your small groups have computer lab during centers. 21st Centruy Learning: Group Project
http://21stcentruylearningwithaward.blogspot.com/2011/11/group-project.html
Sunday, November 20, 2011. This week my group for class and I created an activity where students would use a mobile device (I-touch) as a learning tool. Dave and I both used the mobile devices in our classrooms; he teaches middle school and I teach elementary school. Our group wanted to compare how a similar lesson would go. After making predictions students were asked to get with a buddy from their group and practice the "I read, you read" strategy with the article they had just made predictions with.

21st Centruy Learning: The Dumbest Generation
http://21stcentruylearningwithaward.blogspot.com/2011/11/dumbest-generation.html
Saturday, November 12, 2011. I have spent some of the weekend reading about half of the book, The Dumbest Generation. Or is it that we teachers are doing something to discourage the love of reading? Or maybe is a little of both? Whatever the case, it is essential that we figure out how to get everyone. What are your thoughts on this? I would love your advice on how we teachers can effectively engage our students in 21st century skills and also increase their knowledge base? November 13, 2011 at 5:32 AM.

the zesty baker: painted cookies
http://zestybaker.blogspot.com/2011/07/painted-cookies.html
Monday, July 4, 2011. We just got back in town from a whirlwind trip to Kentucky for Ford's mom's family reunion. Everyone gets together once a year for three days to hang out, play golf, eat lots of food and enjoy one another's company. This year, I commissioned Ashley { Award Inspirations. Here's how they turned out. On all twenty-four cookies, I painted different designs, pictures, and variations of "Pryor Reunion 2011.". If you are interested in painting on cookies, this is what you need:. It's reall...

the zesty baker: January 2012
http://zestybaker.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 16, 2012. Go where you'd like to go. Know whether you've pushed yourself or not. You see, in May and June of 2011 I started feeling super sick all the time and found out that I had pretty severe acid reflux {gross, sorry}. I guess eating buttercream icing with a spoon everyday finally caught up to me. I went on medicine for it for about a month but in an effort to get off the meds, I started changing my diet. I also knew I needed to get in shape. 2012 is already off to a great start. ...
