A Year With Horses: Two Challenges - Part One: Ride All Your Horses the Same

http://ayearwithhorses.blogspot.com/2012/09/two-challenges-part-one-ride-all-your.html

A Year With Horses. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Two Challenges - Part One: Ride All Your Horses the Same. I've been thinking a lot about these things, and have some preliminary ideas of what I need to do. I expect as I move forward in my horsemanship journey that these things will change and come into better focus, as has been true of many other steps along the way. I hope some of this makes sense - I'm still figuring it out myself, and, I must say, it's pretty exciting! September 19, 2012 at 8:35 PM.

A Year With Horses: 2014 Mark Rashid Clinic - Day Three Roxie - Directing, Timing and Feel

http://ayearwithhorses.blogspot.com/2014/04/2014-mark-rashid-clinic-day-three-roxie.html

A Year With Horses. Monday, April 28, 2014. 2014 Mark Rashid Clinic - Day Three Roxie - Directing, Timing and Feel. My last ride of the clinic was on Roxie. As you may remember, our first ride had not ended well - for either of us - and we had worked together on our leading on day two to tune up my "directing" so she and I would be more confident together. We started our day three session with some preliminary leading work. Everything was good, and she was more relaxed already. April 28, 2014 at 7:42 PM.

A Year With Horses: Lily, Norman and Maisie Get Body-Clipped

A Year With Horses. Sunday, May 17, 2015. Lily, Norman and Maisie Get Body-Clipped. Thanks to Melissa at Paradigm Farms for the photos.). Our three senior retirees - Lily and Maisie and Norman the pony - in Tennessee all have Cushings/PPID. So, this time of year, Melissa at Paradigm gives them body clips to help them deal with the hotter weather. Here are some fun photos of the clipping action. Lily had a lot of fur, as always:. Maisie sticks out her tongue - with Lily looking on:. May 19, 2015 at 7:27 PM.

A Year With Horses: Missy Gets a Birthday

http://ayearwithhorses.blogspot.com/2015/05/missy-gets-birthday.html

A Year With Horses. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Missy Gets a Birthday. I've had a number of horses, some very fine ones, with no papers, and therefore no precise birthday. Dawn, Pie and Red all have "official" birthdays, since they're registered - Dawn is a TB (June 10 - a very late birthday for a TB), Pie is a QH (April 29) and Red is a QH too (May 23). So Missy deserves a birthday - most horses are born in April or May, so today's the day! One clean photo, and one dirty . . . May 10, 2015 at 2:13 PM. Bracing...

Super Ponies: December 2014

http://superponehs.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Welcome to my misadventures in pony wrangling. Wednesday, December 24, 2014. One of my barn friends sent me these. He's a character. Adventures of the Super Ponies. Tuesday, December 23, 2014. The good the bad and the ugly. Overall things are going just fine. Working at a major medical center always puts things into perspective. I have two healthy horses, I have a job, I'm getting around in my own two feel. However, if I didn't admit to a bit of a pity party I would be lying. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Super Ponies: Grounded in Paradise

http://superponehs.blogspot.com/2015/05/grounded-in-paradise.html

Welcome to my misadventures in pony wrangling. Monday, May 4, 2015. Last weekend my friend (Blue's owner) wanted to go for a ride with her BFF. Dickie needs long slow trail miles so it was perfect. You can see his spotted butt just in front of the camera. Everyone at the barn said he did great. I guess he jigged a little to start then settled right in. I might not get to ride like the other kids but at least the scenery is amazing. For now I'll just putz along at a snails pace and work on my tan. A Year ...

Super Ponies: Saddle Talk

http://superponehs.blogspot.com/2015/05/saddle-talk.html

Welcome to my misadventures in pony wrangling. Saturday, May 30, 2015. This is the color of model of my current saddle:. Now I have two horses who both need saddles. They will often be ridden at the same time so it's not feasible to use the same saddle on both. Dickies saddle actually fits Pippin better so I decided to bite the bullet and get the saddle I want now. Adventures of the Super Ponies. June 6, 2015 at 2:52 AM. Ooh i love the colour. it looks like a great saddle. Congratulations! Dickie as a lo...

Welcome to my misadventures in pony wrangling. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Adventures of the Super Ponies. Pippin Took Has An Adventure. Look ma I tie! There was room in the new barn and no guarantee there would be room later. My hip recovery hasn't been going well (more on that later) so I would have rather waited a bit but I have a crew of people around to help so we said "What the heck. Send him down! Ex wild kill pen stallion rides in style. Did I hear a treat wrapper? Adventures of the Super Ponies.

A Tale of Two Buckskins: March 2011

http://taleoftwobuckskins.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

A Tale of Two Buckskins. 8220;There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” –Sir Winston Churchill. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Nuclear Power Plant Troubles. It should be fairly obvious that while serving in Uncle Sam's Navy, I did my sea time aboard submarines. Yes, I went to sea on vessels which were designed to SINK ON PURPOSE. What may not be obvious is this: I was a nuclear power plant operator, referred to in Navy jargon as a "nuke". Dave (aka Buckskins Rule).

But that isn't the subject of this post. For the most part, Weyerhaeuser has been a good neighbor, permitting non-motorized recreation on their lands, provided it was compatible with logging operations. Hiking, horseback riding, hunting, etc. Or $150 for the family. The claim is that this is for equitable treatment and to establish rul...

Adventures in Re-Riding: Saying goodbye to Max. 1993-2015

http://rerider35.blogspot.com/2015/05/saying-goodbye-to-max-1993-2015.html

Saturday, May 23, 2015. Saying goodbye to Max. 1993-2015. Said my wonderful 9yo daughter immediately as she heard us talking. Max was 22. His previous owner moved overseas and could not take him with her, and he had been a faithful dressage and trail partner for the last 16 years for her. We were so blessed to have him here, even if it was only for just over a year. The onset of laminitis was rather sudden and he was very lame. If you watch this video. Drafts with Dots: It all starts with Black or Red

http://draftswithdots.blogspot.com/2010/07/it-all-starts-with-black-or-red.html

Life at Iron Ridge Sport Horses. A Note about Sugarbush Draft Horses. I see it over and over again, and no matter how many times it's said, it's still wrong. Sugarbush Drafts are just an Appaloosa Draft Cross". Wednesday, July 14, 2010. It all starts with Black or Red. The "black" gene is actually called "Extension of Black" and is represented with an "E" or "e". Now, the first thing you have to know, is that all horses produce red pigment. Even the black ones! So, now to the fun stuff! Ash, a grey aged ...

A Year With Hitchcock

A Year With Hitchcock. Saturday, August 9, 2008. Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Frenzy" was Hitchcock’s second to last movie. It’s his only film that was rated R (for language, violence, and nudity). It’s an uncomfortable movie to watch, plain and simple. Here’s a list of reasons why it’s uncomfortable:. 1) It’s the early 70s. Now, folks can say that they watch movies to. I’m not sure anyone would confuse Anna Massey with Grace Kelly.  (Yes, she was supposed to be the "romantic" lead.). This is sure-fire way...

A YEAR WITH JESUS

A YEAR WITH JESUS. This blog accompanies a daily reading schedule that goes through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in one year. Saturday, July 14, 2012. 07/14 - A Day Shaped by a Night of Prayer. Sometimes we think everything was easy for Jesus. He just knew what to do and knew when and how to do it. But like us, he needed help and guidance, so he prayed, not for a few moments, but for hours, lasting through the night. His teaching started oddly with the statements about blessings and woes [1]. Which prob...
