Super Ponies: December 2014
http://superponehs.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Welcome to my misadventures in pony wrangling. Wednesday, December 24, 2014. One of my barn friends sent me these. He's a character. Adventures of the Super Ponies. Tuesday, December 23, 2014. The good the bad and the ugly. Overall things are going just fine. Working at a major medical center always puts things into perspective. I have two healthy horses, I have a job, I'm getting around in my own two feel. However, if I didn't admit to a bit of a pity party I would be lying. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Super Ponies: Grounded in Paradise
http://superponehs.blogspot.com/2015/05/grounded-in-paradise.html
Welcome to my misadventures in pony wrangling. Monday, May 4, 2015. Last weekend my friend (Blue's owner) wanted to go for a ride with her BFF. Dickie needs long slow trail miles so it was perfect. You can see his spotted butt just in front of the camera. Everyone at the barn said he did great. I guess he jigged a little to start then settled right in. I might not get to ride like the other kids but at least the scenery is amazing. For now I'll just putz along at a snails pace and work on my tan. A Year ...

The schooling of horse and rider. Or. My trial by fire, err, Red Mare. Friday, August 29, 2014. Taking care of yourself - nail edition. And by that I mean your nails, not your horse's nails. This is a completely unpaid, non-affiliated, non-compensated, they-don't-even-know-I-exist, infopost about Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat. Can a name sound any more posh/eye-roll inducing? I even found the lowest price on the interwebs for you). Ladies. I love this stuff. With the Gel Envy (I feel like su...

Ooh i love the colour. it looks like a great saddle. Congratulations! Dickie as a lo...

A Tale of Two Buckskins: March 2011
http://taleoftwobuckskins.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A Tale of Two Buckskins. 8220;There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” –Sir Winston Churchill. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Nuclear Power Plant Troubles. It should be fairly obvious that while serving in Uncle Sam's Navy, I did my sea time aboard submarines. Yes, I went to sea on vessels which were designed to SINK ON PURPOSE. What may not be obvious is this: I was a nuclear power plant operator, referred to in Navy jargon as a "nuke". Dave (aka Buckskins Rule).

A Tale of Two Buckskins. 8220;There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” –Sir Winston Churchill. Sunday, November 27, 2011. But that isn't the subject of this post. For the most part, Weyerhaeuser has been a good neighbor, permitting non-motorized recreation on their lands, provided it was compatible with logging operations. Hiking, horseback riding, hunting, etc. Or $150 for the family. The claim is that this is for equitable treatment and to establish rul...

Adventures in Re-Riding: Saying goodbye to Max. 1993-2015
http://rerider35.blogspot.com/2015/05/saying-goodbye-to-max-1993-2015.html
Saturday, May 23, 2015. Saying goodbye to Max. 1993-2015. Said my wonderful 9yo daughter immediately as she heard us talking. Max was 22. His previous owner moved overseas and could not take him with her, and he had been a faithful dressage and trail partner for the last 16 years for her. We were so blessed to have him here, even if it was only for just over a year. The onset of laminitis was rather sudden and he was very lame. If you watch this video. Drafts with Dots: It all starts with Black or Red
http://draftswithdots.blogspot.com/2010/07/it-all-starts-with-black-or-red.html
Life at Iron Ridge Sport Horses. A Note about Sugarbush Draft Horses. I see it over and over again, and no matter how many times it's said, it's still wrong. Sugarbush Drafts are just an Appaloosa Draft Cross". Wednesday, July 14, 2010. It all starts with Black or Red. The "black" gene is actually called "Extension of Black" and is represented with an "E" or "e". Now, the first thing you have to know, is that all horses produce red pigment. Even the black ones! So, now to the fun stuff! Ash, a grey aged ...
