Thursday, June 25, 2015. Juvenile Hens/Pullets Come to Live With Us.". I arrived at the agreed upon time and Brad went into the chicken pen and began handing me pullets, which I placed in 2 cardboard boxes for their ride back to our house. I think he had handled the pullets quite a bit as they were pretty calm and continue to be so here at our house. He sold me 7 Isa Browns, 2 Amber Links, and what I believe is a Golden Laced Wyandotte (center in the photo). Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Into its own little ...

Monday, July 28, 2014. July 28, 2014 Garden Update.". I decided since I was out in the garden picking green beans today and tying up Sugar Baby Watermelons, I should take photos for a "Garden Update". :). The 2 varieties of cherry tomatoes are growing very nicely but are not setting many fruit, although there have been hundreds of blossoms. Perhaps the cooler temperatures have had some effect on this? The broccoli is growing nicely but no sign yet of any heads. I haven't grown watermelons in years but th...

MadCityMike's Blog: "Coop Arrival"!!!!!
http://madcitymike.blogspot.com/2015/06/coop-arrival.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2015. The new chicken coop arrived today! Steve, the delivery and set up guy did a fantastic job. I thought I was going to have to move one of my largest blueberry bushes and sacrifice some strawberry plants, but Steve suggested an alternate route.one that would be more work for him but would not harm any of my plantings. Nice, eh? This first photo was taken by our driveway trail cam. The rest of the photos are either taken by me or Don. Into its own little wooded clearing. Simple tem...

Sunday, December 21, 2014. Our Afternoon at Caberfae Ski Resort.". Don and I met Patrick, Julie, and Abigail at Caberfae yesterday so we could watch Abigail ski. Don was the camera man and, of course, did an excellent job! We found the resort's history very interesting. Here is a map of the resort's layout. Here is Abigail prepared to go up the rope tow for her first run of the day. Patrick gets her in place and away they go! Julie is right behind them. After a couple of runs down this longer slope it wa...

http://madcitymike.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-honeymooners.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Good friends, Penny and Sheila, are visiting us from Madison, WI. They are, in fact, spending part of their honeymoon with us, as they were able to get married soon after the Supreme Courts ruling a few weeks ago. They actually got married on the day of their 26th anniversary of being together! They arrived on Friday and we spent that afternoon/evening basically catching up, but yesterday, we drove into Traverse City for the annual Cherry Festival Parade! Daisy Hill Weaving Studio.

Martha's Musings: Glass, Art, Life. New Year, New Scarf. Well, multiple scarves actually, and all knit on glass needles. As the semester drew to a close, I finished off the Noro striped scarf, and here is a picture as promised. Then I had thyroid surgery…this was planned for my 4 week break so I could recover in the fullness of time and without school pressures. What’s a knitter with a surgical recovery and a scar on her neck to do? Knit scarves, naturally. Mango and Martha Knit a Scarf. Nice to hear fro...

Friday, October 24, 2014. Barb's Visit Continued.". Down the road from Gwen Frostic's Studio, perhaps 1/4 mile, is Crystal Lake Alpaca Farm. From what we could see, all of their alpacas are "Huacaya Alpacas". The other breed of alpaca is called "Suri". ( http:/ www.mountairyalpacas.com/huac-suri.html. Here are several photos from the farm. They also have a pair of "Great Pyrenees" guarding their herd. The farms shop had a fairly large inventory of alpaca merchandise, too.all extremely soft!
