A Son of Jacob Hummel: The Interesting 1900 Census
http://sonofjacobhummel.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-interesting-1900-census_3.html
A Son of Jacob Hummel. Saturday, January 3, 2015. The Interesting 1900 Census. The 1900 Census, enumerated June 1, 1900, can look confusing to one who is not completely familiar with this family. First, a look at the Census record:. There are two inaccuracies with this Census:. At the time of this Census, while this was his official residence F. Pierce Hummel was a fugitive from justice. He was missing from December 1899 to September, 1900, when he was captured in Allentown. What’s up with that? Annie ha...

A Son of Jacob Hummel. Monday, July 26, 2010. Life Gets in the Way. It has been a while since I have been able to do any research, and may be a little while longer. Sports seasons for my sons are upon us, so research periods may become fewer and further between. The Swiss Emigration Book, Volumn 1. By Cornelia Schrader-Muggenthaler. The Berks Genealogical Society does not have a copy. I also need to pay a visit to the Berks County Historical Society, one of these days. Sunday, July 18, 2010. According to...

A Son of Jacob Hummel. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Another potential gem has been discovered in the search for Jacob Hummel and his ancestry! Today at the Tri County Heritage Society I discovered an index record of Jacob Hummel's obituary from The Reading Adler. A Pennsylvania German newspaper published in Reading, PA during the 18th and 19th centuries:. Oct 23 Jacob Hummel 88/8/18 Rob T. The next step will be to obtain the obitiary from the Adler. Daniel's early career was as a school teacher; he first taug...

A Son of Jacob Hummel. Saturday, October 8, 2011. Michael Hummel, My 5th-Great Grandfather, "A Soldier in the Service of the United States". Over the years I have leaned that I should follow my gut-instinct; it seldom lets me down. This was one of those times:. The magnitude of this breakthrough cannot be overstated! Through these two records I have now confirmed, at least to my satisfaction:. Jacob Hummel was indeed the son of Michael and Mary (Ziegler) Hummel. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Obtain...

A Son of Jacob Hummel: September 2010
http://sonofjacobhummel.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
A Son of Jacob Hummel. Saturday, September 4, 2010. The Price of Unforgiveness. This post may touch some sensitive nerves in my family, but it is a story that must be told. When one researches his family tree, there is always the possibility of uncovering unpleasant information. This is one of those times:. As I focused research on my great grandfather, I could not escape the fact that the evidence was not supporting what we had come to accept as the truth:. Under oath it was revealed that:. Eventually, ...

A Son of Jacob Hummel: The Royal St. John
http://sonofjacobhummel.blogspot.com/2011/09/royal-st-john.html
A Son of Jacob Hummel. Tuesday, September 13, 2011. The Royal St. John. This is another neat little gem! Well, in doing some random research I discovered that the Smithsonian has a digital image of a Royal St. John trading card from Daniel Hummel's store! While I have the catalog reference record, I don't have library access to the Smithsonian's system, so I can't get the image myself. I emailed their library staff; hopefully they will be helpful in obtaining it for me. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Son of Jacob Hummel: December 2010
http://sonofjacobhummel.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
A Son of Jacob Hummel. Friday, December 3, 2010. I have pretty much been able to establish that Jacob Hummel bought his farm from John Wilcoxon in 1798, he married his wife, Elizabeth, Sept. 29, 1801, and started his family. He lived there until his death in 1866. However, he still just appears, it seems, out of nowhere. Here are some of the reasons why I think this hunch fits:. According to a map I have, Jacob purchased his farm in 1798, when he was a young man of 20, seemingly out of nowhere. According...
