I picked up the prototype batch of CNC parts for the Aluminate project and all I can say is they turned out awesome. The dropouts are lower yoke are stout but not overly heavy. Interest in track frames has been increasing since I started posting about this project - looking forward to next steps in getting some frames built! Posted by Mike Ahrens. Aluminate Prototype Dropouts and Yoke. For the hookup.these little metric screws came straight from Singapore! The lower yoke is dainty but will provide ample ...

Sometimes shit just works out well - thanks to Jason Grove, Jason Montano, Nate Barnett, Alta Design and Willow Glen bike shop for helping me bring this concept to reality. Text message from Nate today:. The bike rides like a dream! It is amazing how much control I have and how responsive it is without being twitchy. It climbs SF hills like a beast too! I promise to get better pictures at NAHBS of this bike - look for it in the Broakland booth if you're going to Sactown! Posted by Mike Ahrens.

And he is responsible for CNC. Machining thousands of WiseCracker. LITE bottle openers for me. I've been on some great shuttle runs in the Santa Cruz mountains with Travis and developing a line of gravity components is right up his alley. The stack height of the AXIS direct mount is only 19mm! Spin'n Wrenches: July 2008

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Monday, July 21, 2008. It's starting to look like this Blog is going to be updated monthly and what a good month it's been so far. Earlier this week Mike Ahrens dropped off a sweet road frame, and if it's ridden as fast as it built up it's going to be winning some races. Flawless frame/component compatibility with a nice groupo to boot. Thanks for the sweet photo Mike. The Truing Stand got an upgrade. Racing news in my little world has been unbelievable.

Spin'n Wrenches: December 2007

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Monday, December 31, 2007. Back in the Saddle. A classic Single Speed ride in Santa Cruz today. Lennie and I stopped by Paul and Holly's to drop off a few things and pilfer a parking spot. Then we headed out, down by the cliff's to Natural Bridges back over to Swift street and up to campus. Over to Wilder, down Zane Grey, then back to the cliff's to watch the last sunset of 2007. I gotta say it was a good day. Sunday, December 30, 2007. Tuesday, December 18, 2007.

Spin'n Wrenches: October 2007

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Friday, October 26, 2007. I was a very bad boy today, I re-cabled and housed Stella's bike and wanted to test ride it. Todays photo stolen from Jon Suzuki. But I haven't got the new helmet I ordered yet. So I went on a 2 hour ride anyway. That's right Helmet Nazi’s, no brain bucket, sans lid, no dome, Pas de Casque. It was nice, really nice, not being burdened by the mandatory Styrofoam dunce cap. The one thing you can say about Hairnets is that they are biodegradable.

Spin'n Wrenches: Structural Art

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2008/04/structural-art.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Wednesday, April 16, 2008. I think it's fair to say that I have assembled (built) a lot of different types of bicycles. I still love it when I find something really simple, very well done and just down right cool. Mike Aherns dropped off a new Voodoo Bizango for me to do a build on. Joe Murray nailed the design with this frame, all of the little details are there. The Seat Stays have a nice hourglass bend to them. And the Cassette (and a rack mount braze-on?

Spin'n Wrenches: CamManoAm

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2008/05/cammanoam.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Friday, May 2, 2008. A couple of months ago Lennard Zinn reported in Velo News. This is the Frank-N-Bike I came up with. The bike is built around the now re-built, smashed Campy Record shift lever. For the filling in this wacky sandwich I choose to avoid the front derailleur and went with a 42 tooth chain ring on the trusted Shimano Dura-Ace Octalink Crank with the Ultegra BB, with a chain keeper for a little extra insurance. Spin'n Wrenches: The Off Season

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2008/02/off-season.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Thursday, February 14, 2008. Cross is over time to relax. right? Well, here's a Photo Dump to recap the last week or so. Cali was using the powers of the Puppy Dog Eyes to try to trick dad out of some treats. Of course it worked. The boys are in town for the big race. Michelle and I have been doing more training with the Pups. Super Wisco sets off on a V-Day delivery. I'm building the most expensive bike I've done so far. Oh No there goes Ergomo. HRS / Rock Lobster.

http://rye-spinnwrenches.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

The ramblings of a bicycle mechanic. Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Woke up this morning a year older. Crap one year closer, and one year left 'till I'm a masters, when I said I would try racing again. Maybe I should take up trials. The Tour of California Prologue stage was a lot of fun. I got to help out Ric at the FSA. Booth It was a lot of fun talking with people about the new products they are offering and the Jumpsuit was cool. At the Sequoia Cycling Classic. Thursday, February 14, 2008. Michelle and I...

Using WebRTC in Chrome extensions. August 28, 2014 by kapejod. While it is possible to use a capture of the complete desktop without a Chrome extension, this type of screen sharing is hardly practical. When you are screencasting a presentation you want to focus the audience's attention on your content and not on your desktop background or instant messaging notifications. What is a Chrome extension? In this post i will focus on the WebRTC part, you can learn about developing Chrome extensions here. To bui...

Educating, Motivating and Inspiring Photographers. Anatomy of an Indoor Portrait Shoot. August 17, 2015. It’s Summer in Arizona, so although I have done it, it’s a bit too hot outside for a Portrait shoot. I’d like to use this Blog to describe the mechanics of an Indoor Portrait Shoot session we held. It was for a Meet-up event, but I approached it the same way I would any Portrait session, and there’s a lot to making one of these successful! What I wanted to keep:. I liked the Coke Machine. The Story of Time

The Story of Time. Taking the first watch. August 12, 2015. This post was written by Mat Craddock of the Wristwatch Group. It’s possible that we may never know for sure when the first wristwatch was made, although that hasn’t stopped a number of Swiss brands laying claim to the production of some iteration of that ur-device. The Patek Philippe #27368, the first Swiss wristwatch, was made in 1868 and sold to the Countess Koscowicz for 1200 francs. July 26, 2015. Peter de Clercq - Editor of AHS Journal.
