Too Many Thoughts

Hi, this is my blog. I tried to look up what kind of ducks they are on Whatbird.com. Which suggests that they might be garganeys. They don't have the white stripe above the eye, although it could be that my ducks are female, or that my vision just isn't good enough to discern the stripe) or greater scaups. It's noon, I have to go eat. I'm back from lunch. It's not that I have. To eat during the stipulated mealtimes. I could eat at a cafe in town (um, the only cafe in town). In Singapore, you don't hear t...

Too Many Thoughts: November 2001

http://blog.toomanythoughts.org/2001_11_01_archive.html

Hi, this is my blog. Welcome to another account of a Lazy Day, in our current special season of Lazy Daze that is proving so popular at this time of the year. I know all this talk about lazing around must be generating a good bit of envy - - particularly in a certain ex-teacher now in London who's facing far larger piles of homework than I have ever seen in my life, as well as for my brother, who seems to be busier in his senior year of college than I ever was - - so I'll keep this part brief. Is still t...

Too Many Thoughts: October 2001

http://blog.toomanythoughts.org/2001_10_01_archive.html

Hi, this is my blog. Tonight's final IR class did nothing to mollify my cynicism about the NUS mode of education. Although the prof wasn't as horrifyingly prescriptive as his counterpart from the economics department, he opened the floor to questions in the second hour of class and that just opened the floodgates. We have a term that is distinctively Singaporean, both in origin and its applicability:. I'm bitter, I know. From anyone if it had. Posted by Tym at 8:27 pm. It's always been near-to-empty on M...

Hi, this is my blog. Islands, islands everywhere. Since early this year, I've been working with Marcus Ng. On an exhibition about Singapore's offshore islands, which opens at the National Museum of Singapore. Today The detailed information isn't on the museum website yet, but here it is:. Stories from Singapore's Islands. 2 June - 10 August 2014. Stamford Gallery, National Museum of Singapore. This exhibition, Balik Pulau. A new play Senang. Too Many Thoughts: I went on vacation with a bunch of three-year-old girls

http://blog.toomanythoughts.org/2014/07/i-went-on-vacation-with-bunch-of-three.html

Hi, this is my blog. I went on vacation with a bunch of three-year-old girls. Not intentionally. It just so happened that they were everywhere I went, during a whirlwind trip to France and the UK in June. First, there was my cousin's wedding celebration near the village of St Laurent in France. Three children were in attendance, the youngest of whom was three. Next time, I must set aside more time for beachcombing and oysters at Whitstable, Gordon's Wine Bar. Posted by Tym at 4:42 pm. This work is licens...

Too Many Thoughts: September 2001

http://blog.toomanythoughts.org/2001_09_01_archive.html

Hi, this is my blog. So I just sneaked this in before midnight and I have two things to say before I hit the sack:. I finished my marking! I'm not certain I was entirely objective towards the end and I kept writing "Eh" and "Feh" and "Bah" in the margins because I was too spaced out to compose coherent comments, but heck - - the point is, I'm done! Now I can focus on my homework for Monday night's class. Posted by Tym at 11:58 pm. Posted by Tym at 5:32 pm. A book review assignment to prepare. Whee! I'm d...

Sunlight follows me: The 16 Rules of the Household

http://looktotherainbow.blogspot.com/2010/05/16-rules-of-household.html

So that I may remember why all things were created. Friday, May 14, 2010. The 16 Rules of the Household. I have recently become acquainted with the "mother" of the Methodist Church, Susanna Wesley. She was the mother of 19 children - two of whom are associated with the foundation of the Methodist Church - John and Charles Wesley. In a time when women were illiterate, it was she who actively pursued an education and was fundamental in homeschooling her own children. Susanna Wesley's 16 Household Rules.

Stardust's breakfast this morning (30 minutes):. 1 One small glass of milk. 2 One small glass of orange juice (heavily diluted with water). 3 One bowl of oatmeal with a spoonful of honey. 4 One handful of blueberries. 5 Half a boiled egg. My breakfast this morning (5 minutes spread out over the course of 30 minutes):. 1 One small glass of water. 2 The other half of the boiled egg. Have a great weekend! Posted by tscd at 7:47 am.

So that I may remember why all things were created. Monday, October 31, 2005. Fast ferry cancelled due to 'suboptimal weather conditions' on Sunday morning. No further ferry available during the day. Took overnight ferry back to the UK from the Channel Islands. 12 hours. (MDH turns to me and says "We might as well have taken a trip to Singapore."). Slept on carpeted floor of ship's restaurant. Arrived in Portsmouth Harbour 6:30am, Monday morning. Arrive home 7:10am, Monday morning. See you all next Sunday.

Baked russet potatoes dripping with grated cheese. 1 How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Don't judge me, ok? It was on TV! Intriguing, sad and horrifyingly true. Posted by tscd at 8:00 am. Your dinner sounds delicious though have not heard of meltique steak. Cant say same for your movie choices! Edun - Hair Tank (Aluminum) - Apparel. Om nom nom nom.

Sunlight follows me: It's wick

http://looktotherainbow.blogspot.com/2010/07/its-wick.html

So that I may remember why all things were created. Thursday, July 08, 2010. MDH has been telling Stardust the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. After a few retellings, we realised that Stardust was more interested in the growing Beanstalk than in Jack and his skyline adventures. Stardust even disassembled one of his musical instruments and excitedly distributed all the green beans into various receptacles in his room in the hope that one of them would sprout into a giant beanstalk (hooray for me).

Bits & Pieces... Where Memories Gather: March 2013

http://bitspiece.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Bits and Pieces. Where Memories Gather. Thursday, 28 March 2013. My Katong Park of the 60s. A hot afternoon, a nice nap at Katong Park. Those see-saws are familiar, no? It was discovered on Saturday, just a day after I had visited the area for these coloured photographs. WHAT's the best part of Katong Park? As early as 1866, the British community in Singapore felt the need for a swimming pool. Charles Burton Buckley wrote in his book, An Anecdotal History of Singapore:. In 1905, the Chinese Swimming Club...

Bits & Pieces... Where Memories Gather: How to polish a rusty cross stitch needle

http://bitspiece.blogspot.com/2016/10/how-to-polish-rusty-cross-stitch-needle.html

Bits and Pieces. Where Memories Gather. Tuesday, 25 October 2016. How to polish a rusty cross stitch needle. Polishing a fat rusty cross stitch needle is as simple as ABC. VERY simple. You just put the rusty needle on the rough cement floor and use your shoe to roll it back and forth a few times. And there, your needle is, not bright as a new pin, but almost there. There used to be needlework classes way back during my primary school days. (Not sure whether they still have them? Had sewing lessons in pri...

It is near the once famous salt-baked chicken restaurant which btw, is still around, further down Serangoon Road! Where the history of this fire station was mentioned.). No 1179, Serangoon Road. Bits & Pieces... Where Memories Gather: An urban park in Singapore

http://bitspiece.blogspot.com/2015/08/an-urban-park-in-singapore.html

Bits and Pieces. Where Memories Gather. Monday, 31 August 2015. An urban park in Singapore. Besides the swings at the park (so great to sit in one and watch the world go by) there is also lush greenery, like this banyan tree (? And ferns growing next to an old crumbling brick wall. The National Development building is just next door. The Chinese Methodist Church faces the park. I like its simple and elegant design, with a little bit of old school charm. http://looktotherainbow.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html

So that I may remember why all things were created. Monday, May 30, 2005. Things I do when I miss home (II). Beef Kway Teow Soup. There are times when I wish I could just nip out to the hawker centre and indulge in some char kway teow. Or chai tow kuay. Sometimes, I crave simple things like teochew muay. Or hainanese chicken rice. Relatively simple to make, and most of the ingredients are within reach at the local supermarket. But other times, I have to rely on my other senses. The power of stimuli.
