Steven Huynh: Digital Native

http://blogstevenhuynh.blogspot.com/2010/07/digital-native.html

Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Today's average college grads have spent less than 5,000 hours of their lives reading, but over 10,000 hours playing video games (not to mention 20,000 hours watching TV)." I wouldn’t be surprised; that sounds about right. Needless to say, I am a Digital Native. However, I can relate to Digital Immigrants. Growing up, the technology in my classroom was cutting edge! We had dry erase boards and overhead projectors and movies on VHS! Posted by Steven Huynh. July 14, 2010 at 9:47 AM.

Steven Huynh: August 2010

http://blogstevenhuynh.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 6, 2010. I’m excited to incorporate technology into the curriculum. However, it’s important to remember that not all students have access to technology at home. Good teaching requires educators to know their students. Likewise, it’s important to know what technology (computers, Internet, cameras, cell phones, etc.) students have access to and are comfortable using. This can be accomplished through a simple questionnaire. Posted by Steven Huynh. Wednesday, August 4, 2010. It was interesting...

Steven Huynh: July 2010

http://blogstevenhuynh.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 28, 2010. I’m excited to integrate technology into the classroom. However, when it comes to using cell phones, I’m hesitant, primarily because of cost. “Currently a basic cell phone has the ability to be the students’ ‘Swiss Army knife’ of technology,” but in order to utilize its more useful features (Internet, etc.), students need more than a basic cell phone plan. How do we involve these students without drawing attention to the fact that they're part of the ‘have-nots’? Cyberbullying i...

Ed Tech: Cell Phones in Class... Good or Bad

http://elizabethmortensen.blogspot.com/2010/07/cell-phones-in-class-good-or-bad.html

Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Cell Phones in Class. Good or Bad. I also understand that cell phones can be a class distraction. However, cell phones are a distraction that can be handled with a strict set of rules that students are held accountable to. The more I read through this article the more ideas I had for using cell phones in the class productively. It makes me curious about even more ways to use phones in the class. Ed Tech: Power Point Presentations

http://elizabethmortensen.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-would-have-to-say-best-thing-during.html

Monday, August 2, 2010. I believe the least engaging thing I saw was an over use of reading notes. That is also what I would say some people need to improve on. I think I did a cruddy job of presenting. I spoke to quickly and didn't make my subject very exciting. If I were to actually present this in a class I would go a lot slower and ask a lot more questions of students to help reinforce the information. Dont read notes know your material. Good to use engaging media. Enthusiasm for material really shows.

Where the Math Meets the Mind. Where your wildest dreams will come true. July 19, 2010 in Uncategorized. After conducting a Google and Pipl search of my name and “handle” I was somewhat disappointed to see what came up and for reasons other than what you’re thinking. No, there are no pictures of me engaging in the inappropriate activities of days passed or wild, profanity ridden posts on incendiary topics, but. I believe people inherit the responsibility of Role Model when they accept the offer to becomi...

Ed Tech: Cyberbullying! Bad Stuff...

http://elizabethmortensen.blogspot.com/2010/07/cyberbullying-bad-stuff.html

Sunday, July 25, 2010. Cyberbullying is bullying with the use of electronics. This could be text messages, blogs, instant messaging or post on a social networking site. Those are just a few examples and daily there are more and more methods of cyberbullying getting tried out. Bullying is an epidemic. As a teacher I will do whatever I can to prevent any type of bullying from happening in or out of my classroom. July 25, 2010 at 12:16 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Where the Math Meets the Mind. Where your wildest dreams will come true. August 3, 2010 in Uncategorized. Manner, almost as if telling a story, which makes it less formal and more engaging. Tufte also says, and I have to agree, that PowerPoint is most often used to guide and to reassure a presenter, rather than to enlighten the audience. It’s a fine line we tread when using PowerPoint but as long as we are careful to use it as a supplement rather than a crutch, we should be ok. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Ed Tech: Googling Myself...

http://elizabethmortensen.blogspot.com/2010/07/googling-myself.html

Monday, July 19, 2010. The Internet is a pretty crazy place with a ton of information about most people. Fortunately. For me it doesn't seem to know a whole heck of a lot about me. When searching for myself in Google I found a ton of other people with my same name but nothing about me. That surprised me a little because in the past I could find my F acebook. Page, but not anymore. When searching for myself on PIPL. I also came across. When searching for myself I did not find anything that I wouldn't.

Friday, September 4, 2015. Recap - Final Thoughts - Grand Cayman / Cuba Trip - December 2013. Love, love, loved the trip.
