Many American breeders follow an old French tradition of naming kittens alphabetically. Most kittens born in any one year will be named with the consecutive letter for that year. For example, 1977 was the letter A, for 2007, the letter is E, 2008-F, 2009-G and so on. By following this tradition it is easy to tell a cat's age just from its name.

The Legend of the Sacred Cat of Burma. The Birman cat is believed to have originated in Burma, where it was considered sacred, The companion cat of the Kittah Priests. Birman babies are all white when they are born. Within a couple days, the points (ears, nose, legs and tail) start to. Get color. The color gradually spreads as the baby gets older. 3 - 4 week old babies. Notice the dark ears and nose. The color is coming in on the legs and the white. Gloving is beginning to show. 7 week old babies.the mask (color on the face) is coming in. Nicely and the gloving (the white on the feet) is pretty. Well defined by now.
