A Southern California Suburban Food Garden (& Chickens! Skip to primary content. Pumpkin Cranberry Oat Agave Muffins. November 15, 2014. I still enjoy baking with agave instead of cane sugar and I recently found a fabulous recipe for pumpkin agave muffins (I added the cranberry part) on the blog, Hell Yeah It’s Vegan! I brought them to a morning work meeting and they were a hit! This entry was posted in Amazing Pumpkins! 3 thoughts on “ Pumpkin Cranberry Oat Agave Muffins. November 15, 2014 at 9:29 am.

A Southern California Suburban Food Garden (& Chickens! Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. Visiting the Alpaca Hacienda. July 26, 2014. My recent visit to an Alpaca ranch in Temecula, CA really caught me by surprise. I’m not sure that I’d even seen an alpaca before in the flesh so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Kinda like a llama, maybe? They are so amazing! We were lucky to have arrived only a few days after these two were born. After a year inside the womb, they essen...

A Southern California Suburban Food Garden (& Chickens! Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. I'm a stay-at-home mom of two growing girls and I love baking, gardening and being outdoors with our hens and amongst the fruit trees. May 30, 2016. As a follow up to my previous post, I should have posted these photos in mid April when I took them, but alas here they are! This first photo shows a monarch about 1 hour before emerging. The chrysalis is completely see through at this point! So when m...
Misguided Peach Bloom for Halloween | Bountiful Backyard

A Southern California Suburban Food Garden (& Chickens! Skip to primary content. Misguided Peach Bloom for Halloween. October 26, 2014. I’ve never had a fruit tree bloom quite like this before! Doesn’t it know that apples and pumpkins get to be the star now? It has just really started to cool down here in southern California. I can almost guarantee that this bloom will fizzle before it bears fruit, but it’s an interesting site in the garden. Here’s to a fruitful 2015. This entry was posted in Fruit.

April 21, 2014 - Please Forgive Me! I awoke this morning and immediately, as usual, opened my email. I saw it was a friend, with the message that her computer had been compromised, DO NOT OPEN! Taking no chances, The first thing I did was a deep scan of all files. It took about 1-1/2 hours. No infection was found, but to be on the safe side, I deleted all of my email and I also rolled the computer back 3 days. I'll do my Easter blog tomorrow! April 22, 2014 at 1:14 AM. April 20, 2014 - And the Love Just Keeps on Shining Through. I'm sure most of you know that 1st. Man started it. And Gammy Tammy came through. With flying colors.literally. Well, look what came in the mail yesterday! Yes, the larger one is the original watercolor! My plan is to print out the blogs that began it all, and put them in an acid proof envelope to attach to the back of the original painting. It will then be proudly displayed for generations to come. Thank you, thank you, Tammy! You are so speci...

http://annieskitchengarden.blogspot.com/2014/04/april-21-2014-amys-in-garden.html
April 21, 2014 - Amy's in the Garden! But Amy doesn't garden. She knew the carrot seed mats had to go down soon, so I got my seed mat tutorial. Out for her to read. How did she do? I gave her an A Maybe even an A! First she scratched in the leaves that had topped this bed for months, under clear plastic, in an attempt to solarize the soil and break down the leaves. I was (unhappily) surprised to see the leaves had not composted down very much. Last, she finished covering the mats with the soil mixture, t...

Annie's Kitchen Garden: December 2013
http://annieskitchengarden.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
December 27, 2013 - Chop, Chop! It doesn't seem possible that the end of 2013 is near! The year has gone way too quickly for me, but I guess time flies faster as one ages. On the other hand, I was impressed with the walnut tree pruning. One of those trees casts morning shade on about half my garden, and had many dead branches that would break and fall onto our property with each windstorm. I had one fall on my head once, so I had to be especially careful about gardening if the wind was blowing! This one,...

March 30, 2014 - Cupcakes for Grandma. Five-year-old Alicyn wanted to surprise me with a special treat today. We were supposed to go to her house for either brownies or cupcakes, but Mr. Granny wasn't feeling well so Alicyn came to us with. She said her Mom baked them and put on the frosting, but Alicyn did the sprinkles. And what a beautiful job she did! She brought a whole dozen, so we'll be having a treat each day this week. Thank you, Alicyn! What was she doing? I gave the girls my cookbook collectio...

BB's Bountiful Backyard
Diary of A Low-Cost No-Till Organic Food Garden. Monday, August 8, 2016. A Special Day in Several Ways. Today, August 8, is a trifecta of events worth noting. From a personal perspective, my younger sister turning 70 is the most significant item on the calendar: Happy Birthday, Sis! She stays spry by riding her senior citizen tricycle around the tiny rural town where she lives and picking blackberries with neighbors. I try to keep the kinks out by puttering around in the backyard. So it feels especially ...
