http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/06/76-fractal-pleasures.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. The garden and the greenhouse are both looking good. The back garden is flourishing, I'm happy to say. The yoga lawn is lush; we are already harvesting strawberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb; and the warm weather is plumping up the gooseberries, raspberries, plums, gages, damsons, blackberries, apples and cherries. 20 June 2015 at 06:23. What a lovely thing. Just looking at it gives me a head full of fruit :-).

Building The Orchard: 72. A pot but no chimney
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-pot-but-no-chimney.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 72 A pot but no chimney. I've terminated our soil ventilation pipe. Lutyens went one step further and turned his chimneys into something truly monumental. Like Prior, we just want to have fun. That we are only now recovering from, but as a building material its combination of strength and malleability are unmatched. 12 May 2015 at 10:27. I love your decorative flourishes! An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 77 The end of one of many stories. We've been putting up shelves. 22 June 2015 at 10:41. A tear in my eye on this Monday morning as I read this. So lovely a completion, a closing of the circle for the sycamore tree, and a beginning of new life as leaves of books proliferate on the shelves and ideas and inspiration flourish. And Im glad you took time out to celebrate and be easy (easier? 22 June 2015 at 20:24. Fortunately th...

Building The Orchard: 78. The big reveal
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/06/78-big-reveal.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 78 The big reveal. Our scaffold has gone. It is, to be frank, quite a funny-looking building. But we always knew it would be. The. Constraints of the site were considerable and the design was driven by a desire to create a house that functions well both for us and for the environment. The form follows these functions. We are functionalists following Ruskin, not Corbusier. As Ruskin put it:. The chimney stack rising above th...

Building The Orchard: 70. Another big delivery
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/05/70-another-big-delivery.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 70 Another big delivery. This time it's our floors. Our floors arrived today: two pallets of reclaimed parquet blocks from the helpful, and appropriately named, Parquet Parquet. Fortunately it is all in pretty good shape, so we won’t have to spend days cleaning the grooves and tidying up the tongues. All the blocks have a layer of tar on the bottom but they can all be buzzed with a sander before being smothered in...After s...

Building The Orchard: 82. August slowdown
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/08/82-august-slowdown.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. The garden is flourishing, at least. The garden is also full of bees, which is fabulous. Right now they are all over the persicaria. What cool insects they are: going about their business with a minimum of fuss while casually pollinating our fruit trees and and increasing the sum of local human happiness. 12 August 2015 at 12:21. Bees are the coolest things. 14 August 2015 at 12:35. Whats your water strategy?

Building The Orchard: 65. A solar milestone
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/03/65-solar-milestone.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 65 A solar milestone. Our solar panels went live today. Today Alan from ICB. We should get almost everything we need from these panels. Not quite though - we would have had to build an extra storey, to raise the roof, to achieve this. Been there, done that (in Tree House) so this time I just want an ultra-low energy house which is self-sufficient in fruit rather than energy. More fun in the long run. Richard C. Lambert.
