At just 170 miles wide and 301 miles in length, it came as a bit of a shock when I realised that the coastline of Ireland is 1,970 miles long! Ireland’s continual battle with the relentless pounding of the powerful Atlantic Ocean has resulted in a deeply indented coastline, especially in the south-west. Still, it is a wee bit longer than my 500 mile walk in Spain.
