C&O Hinton Division: January 2012
http://hintondivision.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 17, 2012. East yard benchwork, part 2. Here's the other half (the portion shown framed up without subroadbed) of the east yard. I have clamped a strip of hardboard to the front edge to visualize where the curved fascia will be. Also as you can see, I have subroadbed on the first half and have put down cork where needed (I'm not putting cork under yard tracks). Monday, January 9, 2012. Movin' on around the bend. Next, I need to build the other end of this yard (connects to the near end in...

C&O Hinton Division: August 2014
http://hintondivision.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 24, 2014. It's been almost a year since the last update, and well over a year since any progress was made with the layout. Between beginning a new relationship and getting things done around the house, the layout has been "sitting in a siding", but now things are starting to come back together. I recently finished some drywall work and paint in about half of the layout room and started putting together the layout. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). N scale model railroading.

C&O Hinton Division: March 2013
http://hintondivision.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 17, 2013. N scale earthquake hits West Virginia. Here's how the layout looked up until this afternoon. Here's how it looks now. Fret not, C&O fans and N-scalers. I'm not abandoning ship. To move forward, sometimes you have to take a step back. The first post I made on this blog included the following comment:. Since this is still not a permanent location, I've been building in segments around the concept of. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). N scale model railroading. View my complete profile.

C&O Hinton Division: So much track, so little space
http://hintondivision.blogspot.com/2015/01/so-much-track-so-little-space.html
Sunday, January 18, 2015. So much track, so little space. I wanted the Piney Creek Branch to occupy less than 12" of layout depth to not eat up so much room space. I'd like to have a tv/reading nook in this area. As it turns out, 12" for this branch is going to be quite crowded considering what else passes through this section of layout. There's Piney Creek itself, there's the C&O branchline and its associated mines, and as the infomercials say, "but wait, there's more! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, January 25, 2015. That doesn't go there. or: Square peg, round hole. Hmm I don't think that goes together that way. I know, I'll just use a saw and make it fit. Oh, and here's another picture. The Piney Creek branch has track across the New River! For space savings, I have represented this span with two through-truss kits, whereas the prototype has three through-truss segments of two designs, plus a deck girder at one bank. C&O Hinton Division: May 2012
http://hintondivision.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I'm still making progress. It's been a while since I posted an update. Haven't done a lot at once to feel like posting about, but I have done a number of little things so far this year. Quinnimont is starting to take shape. I need to buy up the entire state's supply of Circuitron Tortoise switch motors though. Please ignore the trash pile in the floor. :) Here's the east end of Quinnimont's "old yard". Not on my railroad! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). N scale model railroading.

C&O Hinton Division: Which direction to go?
http://hintondivision.blogspot.com/2015/03/which-direction-to-go.html
Sunday, March 22, 2015. Which direction to go? I've been playing with track planning and whatnot tonight, and I'm coming to a fork in the road with this layout. I've kept aisleways huge and compression very minimal so far, and in some ways that has come back to bite me. There's two ways I can take the design from here, and they're explained below.
