Enrichment Programs are offered at minimal cost at area elementary schools. We introduce children to words and simple sentences from their immediate environment such as family, colors, food items, or animals and also include culture components. Programs for Children and Youth. CeLTA Language School offers a variety of programs for children and youth. During spring and fall semesters, we offer weekly classes for preschoolers (ages 3-5), children (ages 6-12), and teens (ages 13 ). In the summer, we offer week-long day-camps on campus. Monthly culture events introduce children to cultures around the world. Enrichment programs at area elementary schools introduce children to different cultures and their languages. Our weekly classes introduce children ages 3-6 to the target languages and cultures in a playful way. By speaking in the target language throughout the entire class, the children are immersed in the language and become familiarized with the sounds of the language while learning to say simple phrases. Summer Camps for Kids. Every summer, we offer language and culture day camps for children ages 6-12 on campus. The camps generally take place for one week (Monday-Friday) from 8:30 am - 4 pm. Morning-only options are available for most camps (8:30 am - 12 pm). No previous knowledge of the language is necessary and children of higher proficiency levels can be accommodated. Summer Camps for Teens. Our summer camps for teens are tailored to both beginners as well as students with prior experience in the language. The camps focus on speaking and listening skills with some reading and writing mixed in and are open to students ages 13 and above. All camps are half-day camps that meet for one week (Monday-Friday) in the afternoon (12:30-4 pm). Opens on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. During regular MSU semesters, we offer Saturday culture events where we introduce children ages 3-13 and their parents to different cultures. We introduce the cultures and languages, play games, sing songs, and do arts and crafts. It is an opportunity to travel the world in an afternoon. The events generally take place on a Saturday from 2-4 pm in B-135 Wells Hall. Parents are encouraged to stay and participate but can also drop off their children. Multicultural Event: Brazil, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan.
