Our own pace was a bit slower - about five and a half hours from car to car, with a couple of short trips off the trail for my friend, who is a geocacher. Begin by Labor Day. So, I added up the figures the story gave for different parts of the project, and if I'm right, paving 8.67 miles of trail will cost $817,101 (including $84,101 for bridge work). $94,000 per mile - can that be right?
