Just another WordPress.com site. By Jane R. Stanton. No Social Media National Championship for the NCAA, but a big one for BC…. I realized upon my arrival that Tampa would be an exception host city. This happened to be a pattern throughout the event. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was greeted by a flood of Frozen Four décor. The Marriott Waterside was the official Media hotel of the Frozen Four, so I wasn’t surprised that there was a Frozen Four theme, but they really went all outand I loved it! And the f...

Is probably more useful than. If Agora wa...

Just another WordPress.com site. Laquo; A New Beginning. Social Media and Foreign Language Acquisition. May 7, 2012. Social media’s new, fast-paced, and ever-changing nature is the exact opposite when I think of learning and retaining knowledge. Social Media connects us to information and people but I’ve never heard of social media providing a skill set. In fact, social media is often berated for only communicating little bits of factoids that do not develop into higher understanding. A student would sta...

Just another WordPress.com site. The Case FOR Microsoft as One Great Tech Company! When I read the Great Tech War of 2012 article, I was struck how Microsoft was not included. I look at Microsoft and see a tech company with 273.46bn market cap, operating margins of 38% and Net Income of 23bn (Yahoo Finance). This does not seem to me to be a company behind the pack, but rather a commercial giant, making billions. In 2009, Google and Apple put together would have equaled the size of Microsoft. Google may h...

My silly attempt at not having just another WordPress site…. Towards a Future of Wearable Computing? April 17, 2012. I’ll briefly preface this blog post by saying that I won’t be discussing social media directly, even though the potential ramifications for social media are very significant. Think through how this emerging technology could impact your own use of social media just as you might have thought about smartphones around 2007. Do something doesn’t mean that we. Or that we will. To say nothing of ...
