Word count | Chris Steer Scribbles
https://chrissteerscribbles.wordpress.com/2014/08/11/word-count
Coming alive →. August 11, 2014 · 5:19 pm. As I moved onto second and third drafts I compared the word counts, seeing where I cut down chapters and where I expanded upon ideas. Quite frequently I was guilty of under-writing as well as over-writing. There’s not really much more to this point, but I wonder if other writers obsess over word counts too. 8211; CS –. 8 months in brief →. August 20, 2014 · 8:17 pm. I love tea. It solves everything and I can’t function without it. I don’t like it brewed, I like it stewed. I like tea with an oily slick on the top, that you can stand a spoon up in and that strips the enamel from your teeth. With full fat milk. From a mug. When I wrote Novel 1 (the one I left at Draft 4), I invested a lot of myself into the main character. Specifically, he was addicted to tea and, though trivial, I liked the fact that he liked tea. B) I d...

A good cuppa →. August 15, 2014 · 4:21 pm. I’ve started tuning the plot, changing events, moving things around as my characters come alive. I enjoy the challenge of realising that the plot point I had planned no longer fits in with my characters’ personalities or motivations, and have to change things. New possibilities and ideas open up as the characters flesh out. 8211; CS –. A good cuppa →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Motivation | Chris Steer Scribbles
https://chrissteerscribbles.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/motivation
Word count →. July 30, 2014 · 2:03 pm. Sometimes words pour out of me. Sometimes simply opening the laptop seems like a chore. In a good week, when the words flow easily, I’ll write more than I plan to when I do write. This makes up for the days when the words just don’t want to come, so I still hit my weekly word count. Gave me the motivation to write when the words weren’t flowing. By UNKLE and the soundtrack to. By Mogwai just need to start playing and I get that desire to write building slowly. Get e...

Newer posts →. July 26, 2014 · 2:56 pm. So I began Novel-2 at the start of 2013 and completed it just this week. That was an amazing achievement and now I know I can definitely complete this new one, Novel-3. I found writing Novel-2 that I had learnt so much from the previous effort. I’m finding with Novel-3, I’ve learnt even more. The characters are coming together a lot easier and I can already sense the places which are going to prove difficult to write. 8211; CS –. Sunday, 11 August 2013. Author Guest Blog - Neil Clift. I never looked at it that way when I was plowing my way through Asimov, until Philip K. Dick hit my radar in my late teens. Since then, numerous authors have helped to shape my style, such as Richard Morgan, and Iain M. Banks (R.I.P.). I've also branched out into horror and fantasy in recent years, as very often there's a crossover in these genres these days. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). As you can see this just has not happened, not because I haven't tried but because my iPad does not like blogging! I've fired up the old PC and am trying out a new post - so here goes. Here is the artwork I entered. Here goes let's see whether this will actually post. I do hope so xx. Sunday, 16 February 2014. Saturday, 29 December 2012. I have ac...

Chris Steer Scribbles | A place where I scribble
April 25, 2015 · 7:36 pm. Straight answers are complicated. When talking about writing, I often get asked if I’m trying to get a novel published. I suppose the most accurate answer to that is, I am and I’m not. Straight answers are complicated. What I mean is. I have a ladder of goals in my head. Getting to each rung is a huge achievement and I value reaching each without getting lost in dreaming of climbing higher. This is how far I’ve climbed:. Submitting a novel to an agent. I knew that submitting wou...
