BackChat: And so it continues, both day and night
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2008/11/and-so-it-continues-both-day-and-night.html
Thursday, 13 November 2008. And so it continues, both day and night. How wonderful to be surrounded by friends! I hoped this was going to happen; I would have been hurt if it didn't. But the reality of leaving this church (CCK) and this town (Brighton) is beginning to come close. Having expressed my alarm about the amazing garden at Corn Mill Close, and also having had a meeting with Jonathan Bell, the elder overseeing Church Central in Birmingham. People are great, aren't they? There are days when this ...

BackChat: And another thing...
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2008/12/and-another-thing.html
Saturday, 6 December 2008. Third in a series on noticing stuff when you should be concentrating. As I approached the CCK church building in good time for the early morning prayer time today, I noticed a small puddle of liquid on the pavement. Scattered around this was the remains of a glass bottle; an extra virgin olive oil bottle. The tell-tale aroma wafted mouthwateringly and I wondered if someone had dropped their shopping and lost this precious liquid. 6 December 2008 at 21:59. No news is bad news.

BackChat: And there was great rejoicing
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2009/05/and-there-was-great-rejoicing.html
Thursday, 21 May 2009. And there was great rejoicing. So, at last, someone has bought my car. It’s been stationary since 23rd November, whe. N my eyes became officially inadequate and my Driving Licence expired. Except of course for the trip late in January when HD drove it to Birmingham and parked it outside my new house. Thanks at last, after several expensive weeks’ advertising, to AutoTrader, a garage in Hull has taken it off my hands. A scheme to get the car and some cash out of m. Someone did volun...

BackChat: A prayer for growth
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2009/04/prayer-for-growth.html
Monday, 20 April 2009. A prayer for growth. And all God's people said 'Saxifrage', although some said 'Aubretia' (actually, they pronounced it 'Or-bresher'). While others muttered 'Fuschia bush plants'. The rest simply wondered with wonderment at the potting compost. Great Escape theme tune. I can hear the grass grow. 20 April 2009 at 17:43. Yeah, yeah, mowing tomorrow, probably. Just didn't have the gusto to do that as well today! 20 April 2009 at 19:26. 21 April 2009 at 13:24. And you went with him too;.

BackChat: Disappointing
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2008/12/disappointing.html
Wednesday, 10 December 2008. West Bow Books (a division of Thomas Nelson). I’ve been reading a manuscript for a dear friend recently, and have had to apply some rules for this as she’s just learning the skills and techniques required. She has a good story and a good way of approaching it, but struggles a little with writing believeable dialogue, with maintaining the point of view and with developing character. Of translation, inaccurate reading or a misunderstanding of God. In the case of Scripture (once...

BackChat: Be that as it may... 4
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2008/10/be-that-as-it-may-4.html
Tuesday, 21 October 2008. Be that as it may. 4. H'mmm Fireworks night, eh? I have many times wondered about the wisdom thereof. Injuries, disfigurements, opportunities for people to hurt themselves (and, more importantly, each other); it's expensive, trivial, momentary, intrusive for those who would prefer not to have vast explosions of extreme volume. Rending the night sky (which may be many parents of small children, come to think of it) and almost impossible to police to prevent. Ugs or booze or - but...

BackChat: A Psalm of grateful thanks to God
http://andybackbackchat.blogspot.com/2008/10/psalm-of-grateful-thanks-to-god.html
Friday, 17 October 2008. A Psalm of grateful thanks to God. For the director of music. A psalm of David. 1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;. May the name of the God of Jacob protect you. 2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. 3 May he remember all your sacrifices. And accept your burnt offerings. 4 May he give you the desire of your heart. And make all your plans succeed. 5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners.
