Grandma's recess: April 2013
http://grandmasrecess.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Wednesday, April 17, 2013. A wet welcome back to Michigan. It was dry when we entered. We’re home. And thanks Michigan for the wild and wet welcome back. We weren’t in our home state more than 15 minutes when it started to rain. And then it really rained and then it rained so hard that the windshield wipers were pointless. The trip, until we arrived in Michigan, was very uneventful but just a little longer than I usually like to drive. Mileag...

Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Friday, January 30, 2015. Call it a rain delay, but Grandma's Recess is back. Editor’s note: I have heard from three of you that you miss the more frequent Grandmas Recess. It’s nice to know that people care and I’m sorry that I have been a little lax in the posting department.). Joan and I have been wearing light jackets, but we should be out of them by Tuesday afternoon. The Irving Berlin concert was great and included a female singer ̵...

Grandma's recess: September 2014
http://grandmasrecess.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Sunday, September 21, 2014. A nice three day walk in the woods - of Wisconsin. Updated 9/22/14 - see below in bold italics). A bad day hiking is better than a good day at work any day. For about two years my brother-in-law Philip and I have been trying to put together a back pack trip. The stars finally aligned this year and last week we set out on a four-day, three night back pack trip on the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin. But Philip found the ...

Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Sunday, April 12, 2015. The trip home from Saint Clair, Missouri was uneventful. Joan failed to spy even one camel today so that was good. We started the day at 54 degrees and it just got better and better after that. As I mentioned yesterday we were very pleased with “Budget Lodging” and will plan to stop there in both directions again next year. Back home in Michigan at 2:09 pm. Time out: 7:14 am. Time in: 5:15 pm. Saturday, April 11, 2015.

Grandma's recess: March 2015
http://grandmasrecess.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Saturday, March 28, 2015. News from the visit of the in-laws and one bad outlaw (a Dillinger reference). Jeff looking up at the B-29 tail gunner's spot. If we have learned anything from our trips to Arizona is that the clock spins much faster when we have company. At our age, time is speeded up anyway, but when we have friends or family here it seems like the clock is spinning out of control. A Tucson sunset in the park. They were moved to a ...

Grandma's recess: One more post before we leave Tucson
http://grandmasrecess.blogspot.com/2015/04/one-more-post-before-we-leave-tucson.html
Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Monday, April 6, 2015. One more post before we leave Tucson. Spartan fans in the desert. OK, so I lied. This will likely be the last post before we head home to Michigan. The work of preparation to put the trailer in storage is underway and our Thursday getaway day is approaching quickly. Since the last post we have been busy with friends and activities so I thought I would update things pending our imminent departure. We had a smaller hiking...

Two newbie RVers set off to conquer America and just have fun. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Lots of books, a great MSU victory and a memorial service for a friend. During our stay here last year we missed attending the Tucson Festival of Books at the University of Arizona campus. The event is a major weekend of hundreds of authors and book peddlers and other vendors. I can’t remember why we didn’t attend last year, but we were determined to make the festival at least for one day. We later learned that the ...
