http://claireheaven.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Sunday, 15 February 2015. Bali Wanderings: The most stunning temple in Bali? Looking towards the main template on the rocky outcrop. Uluwatu (or Pura Luhur Uluwatu) is certainly up there as having one of the most stunning settings for a temple. The complex straddles the cliffs on the southwest of Bali, overlooking the Indian Ocean – and apparently a good spot for surfing! Looking towards the main template on the rocky outcrop. The Hindu temple dates from the 10. It̵...

Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings: Botswana Wanderings: Leopard encounters
http://claireheaven.blogspot.com/2015/07/botswana-wanderings-leopard-encounters.html
Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Monday, 20 July 2015. Botswana Wanderings: Leopard encounters. The leopard is one of the most elusive of the big cats. They are well camouflaged with their tawny coats, so they can be very difficult to 'spot' (bad pun! In their African environment. Leopards are considered 'near threatened' on the IUCN endangered list. This is due to habitat loss and hunting (for trade as well as control). First encounter: Okavango Delta, early morning. And then hopped down to continue h...

http://claireheaven.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Saturday, 21 March 2015. Bali Wanderings: Ubud - an oasis or simply chaos? Ubud in Bali has long been touted as the cultural centre of Bali. With its many temples, surrounded by rice fields, tourists and artists have been flocking there for years. The rice fields outside Ubud. Having spent a wonderful few days by the sea in southern Bali, I made the trip up to Ubud, located in the centre of the island. Traffic, traffic, traffic! View of the rice fields from my hotel.

Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings: December 2014
http://claireheaven.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Monday, 29 December 2014. London Wanderings: Remembering WWI at the Imperial War Museum. This year marks 100 years since the beginning of the First World War. There have already been a number of activities to commemorate this, not least of which was the amazing Poppies ‘art installation’ at the Tower of London. It is amazing that the museum has been able to gather so much from 100 years ago. And it is definitely worthwhile going … however! I would still recommend visiti...

Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Friday, 8 August 2014. London Wanderings: quirky benches. So some of you may remember a few years ago, London was inundated with elephants. Colourful, small statues of elephants. (Wouldn't the real thing have been fabulous? Well, this summer London is hosting another phenomenon - book benches! There are 50 different book benches dotted about London to celebrate both London's literary heritage and the joy of reading. Who wouldn't love a bench that's shaped like a book?

Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings: Botswana Wanderings: Woof woof
http://claireheaven.blogspot.com/2015/07/botswana-wanderings-woof-woof.html
Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Saturday, 25 July 2015. Botswana Wanderings: Woof woof. I didn't know much about the African wild dog before I went to Botswana. I'm a cat lover so I tend to be more interested in the big cats. But I noticed that the African wild dog was listed on my safari itinerary as one of the animals to look out for. When I got to Botswana and met a few travellers who were so excited to be able to see these African wild dogs … well, in the wild! Their population is currently estima...

Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings: November 2014
http://claireheaven.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Claire's Wanderings and Ramblings. Wednesday, 26 November 2014. London Wanderings: 'Lest We Forget'. What strikes me most, more this year than previous years, is the hypocrisy of the saying ‘Lest We Forget’ (a now well-known remembrance saying from Kipling's poem Recessional. The phrase is bandied around in the lead up to 11 November, but as soon as Remembrance Day passes, we do forget about the dead and their sacrifice. Why were so many people going to see the poppies? I had been to see the display of p...
