Climb for the Cure

As of Sunday, Rob is officially on the mountain and off the grid. Our only contact is via satellite-phone, so I’ll be posting here as Rob calls me with updates. Keep up the giving, folks! We’re almost at $1000 already! Will post when I have more to report. Check the RMI Expedition Blog. Post for more info. Finally Flying to Base Camp! After a 2-day delay due to the weather at Base Camp (small planes need visibility! We’re getting in the plane and taking off! Pre-Trip Preparation and Training). DAY 6: Cam...
Climb for the Cure, Summit!
http://climbforthecure.realpie.com/post/23937859442/summit
Just heard from Rob that they made the Summit yesterday (Sunday) on what was the “hardest day of the trip” - 14 hours of climbing. The phone cut out, but I’m assuming he was calling from Camp 5 at 17,200 ft. Possibly Camp 4 at 14,000? He was just waking up and sounded tired but healthy. He said he would call from town (Talkeetna) tomorrow. Every "goal level" reached via donations, will be matched dollar for dollar by your friends at Real Pie!
Climb for the Cure, Camp 3
http://climbforthecure.realpie.com/post/23115796785/camp-3
Another tough climb on Monday, but they made it to Camp 3. Tuesday is a rest day and by the sound of Rob’s voice Monday night… they need it. Every "goal level" reached via donations, will be matched dollar for dollar by your friends at Real Pie! So let's give a little and cheer a lot, as Rob makes it to the top for a great cause!
Climb for the Cure, Update from 17,200 Feet
http://climbforthecure.realpie.com/post/23756462599/update-from-17-200-feet
Update from 17,200 Feet. Rob just called from Camp 5. They made the big climb from 14,000 on Thursday, and are resting/acclimating today. Weather permitting, they’ll go for the Summit tomorrow (Saturday) and be back drinking beers in Talkeetna by Monday. The altitude effected the whole team when they reached 17,200. Rob says it was like watching 10 totally stoned guys setting up camp. Everyone’s doing better today. This means Rob reached Camp 5 before our donations did!
Climb for the Cure, Summit Attempt Today
http://climbforthecure.realpie.com/post/23889523541/summit-attempt-today
The winds were a bit too strong on Saturday, so they postponed the attempt until today. Hope to hear from Rob either at the Summit, or just after on their descent at Camp 5 or 4. Keep you posted! Every "goal level" reached via donations, will be matched dollar for dollar by your friends at Real Pie! So let's give a little and cheer a lot, as Rob makes it to the top for a great cause!
