I imagine drinking mead on a warm porcelain floor was a dream of the ancients. Cement Floor (minus the toughest bits of linoleum). The bathroom, on the other hand, took less than a minute. No glue and only one layer of linoleum. It was like made-for-tv easy. Beautiful hike along the Pennine Way near Hawes.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Sand Banks, England, Dec. 2008. I’ve never skiied before so I was pretty scared. Usually, people do what they used to do before the injury. But I’ve never skied before. So it was interesting. I thought it was very fun and I enjoyed my time despite myself. The temperature was cold so I had to layer up. I used an adaptive equipment known as the “outriggers”. It was similar to the crutches polio patience use. I was pleased I was able to ski down a mountain. But Dorsett was cold.

Derek is also still part of a rehab program at the VA Palo Alto. Derek attends the VA program during the day and also has Hippo therapy twice a week. Athletically challenged (though she did complete the Great Aloha Run with Derek), she enjoys eating good food (though vegetarian please), reading, knitting, and is an avid movie and TV watcher.

Saturday, March 28, 2009. March 2009, by Derek. Derek at Hippo Therapy. I then found out that NCEFT(the place I’m doing my hippo) is suffering from lack of funding. It saddens me to hear the news as I felt the therapy had tremendous benefits. I’ve written letters of protest and contacted people sharing my view.
