Jay Maynard's 1992 Ford Explorer. And now, pardon me while I rant. The truck you see above is a 1992 Ford Explorer. It wasn't mine for a minute longer than it took me to be able to afford to buy something to replace it. It's a 2-door sport model, with a 5-speed manual transmission. But wait, there's more! Just over 4,000 miles later, the transmission failed again. I got the following fan mail, which I've edited only to remove some headers, from an anonymous admirer.note the unreplyable return address:.

What I really look like. Technical info about the picture. I took this with my Olympus OM-2 and 21/3.5 Zuiko lens, using the available light in the room from the overhead fixture. I used Konica VX 400 film, and the 1/15th second shutter speed ensured the images on the computer screens weren't washed out. The negative was scanned directly, and then I used Photoshop to adjust the color balance and improve the contrast. Here's a key to what the computers are:. Jay Maynard, jmaynard@conmicro.cx.

Linux server, thebrain. Hardware: DEC AlphaPC164 500. This system has a 500 MHz Alpha 21164 CPU, 256 megabytes main memory, and a 512KB cache. For mass storage, it has a Conner CFP540S and a TEAC CD-532S 32X SCSI CD-ROM, driven by a NCR/Symbios Logic 53C810 PCI busmaster SCSI controller; a second SCSI controller, this one a 53C825, drives a Seagate ST39121W fast/wide drive. There's also a 3-1/2 inch floppy disk. User workstation, yakko. Hardware: Apple iMac G4/800 (15-inch version). Primary laptop, wakko.
