Cooking and the City. Saturday, 23 January 2016. Pastry Topped Beef and Vegetables. It's summer here but I much prefer comforting winter foods and I love pastry of any kind! This dish combines both, I cooked mine on the stove top but I'm sure a slow cooker to stop heating the kitchen too much would be ok. 1 kilo stewing beef cut in cubes. 1 can diced tomato. 1/2 cup beef stock. Sprig rosemary finely chopped. Mash potato to serve. Links to this post. Saturday, 9 January 2016. 1 can creamed corn. Damper is...

Cooking and the City: September 2012

http://cookingandthecity.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Cooking and the City. Friday, 28 September 2012. These sausage rolls are so easy they really are like cheating but in a good way ;). Really there's no recipe you just cook up some little chipolata sausages (I boil mine first as I dislike under done sausage meat) I then brown the sausages. when cooled I wrap them in puff pastry and cook them in a pre heated oven untill the pastry is golden brown and the sausage inside is warmed through.so easy and so good. http://kalicooks.blogspot.com/2008/11/mushroom-and-ricotta-pie.html

Thursday, 13 November 2008. Mushroom and Ricotta Pie. Winter is here and to celebrate I'm bringing out the hearty food! I love pies, the possibility's are endless, yet manufacturers seem to think no meat must mean cheese and onion filling and nothing but? 3 large free range eggs. 1 punnet of button mushrooms sliced. 1 small red onion diced. 2 cloves of garlic crushed. A handful of mature cheddar. 3 In a bowl mix the eggs, ricotta, mushroom mixture and the season generously with black pepper. Mushroom and...

http://kalicooks.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, 30 November 2008. This is a bit of a chuck everything in recipe so no real skill involved. Still tastes yummy though :D. 1 white onion diced. 1 tbs beef gravy granules (I use bisto as its vegetarian, but it makes the quorn taste a bit meatier). 8 dumplings (feel free to make from scratch, I went for packet mix cos this is a lazy dinner! Preheat the oven to 180c. Dissolve the stock cube and gravy granules in 500g of boiling water. I recommend serving with mash potato. Can you get any easier? I add...

ruth's kitchen experiments: Christmas Fruit Punch (Non-Alcoholic Mulled Wine)

http://justaddeggs.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-fruit-punch-non-alcoholic.html

Monday, 5 December 2011. Christmas Fruit Punch (Non-Alcoholic Mulled Wine). Each Christmas I try to make something new to add to my list of Christmas recipes, this year I have a few things in mind and this is the first. One problem I had, which isn't even a problem is that the punch looked rather brown when all done, so I added in a few drops of red food colouring to correct. There is also two ways to prepare this punch - on the hob or in the slow cooker (aka crock pot). Makes around 25 servings. IN THE ...

Monday, July 6, 2015. A CHRISTMAS CAT STORY. Huge baskets filled with clusters of catnip dangled from a thirty foot high ceiling. Twinkling lights from the rays of the sun danced on green leaves through the overhead skylight window, and the tiny cracks in the roof dripped just enough rain to make them grow until they almost touched the floor. Commanded CaliClaus, Is our team ready? Answered Bombie and Angie, as they moved toward the door together. Chirped Munchkin, trying to stand tall on her short legs.
