He must have come from somewhere. But no one dared a guess. He rode a well bred Buckskin horse. And had a look upon his face. Of hard times in the desert. Or perhaps a mountain pass. The wind just seem to die down then. But I felt it wouldn’t last. A skiff of dust at his horse’s hoofs. Said he’d been ridin’ long. I wondered as he passed me by. If trouble was his song. A stronger, tougher lookin gent. I’d not seen in all my days. Reckon he sort of knew it, and I puzzled. Through the hot sun’s rays.

THE LITTLE PINE TREE. The old timer could feel the snow fall. Yet it was silent and could not be heard. His fire crackled from the pitch in the wood. Then he mumbled the words Christmas Eve. A tear rolled down his time weathered cheek. He was alone, but embarrassed still. A full grown man is not supposed to cry. Then he shivered with a child like chill. He’d spent many a Christmas Eve alone. As he recalled the years that has passed. Tonight there was something strange in the air. He would remedy that.

I only cry when it rains. Least the others shall see my tears. Time shan’t erase my sorrow. I’ve been standing here for years. The white markers scattered below. Attest to the violent waste.
