On Your Mark, Get Set, Start Over | Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise
https://culdesacinparadise.wordpress.com/2015/01/05/on-your-mark-get-set-start-over
Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise. On Your Mark, Get Set, Start Over. January 5, 2015. I dropped Philip off and headed back toward the office. Still, not a lot of traffic, I am within sight of my office by 6 AM, and Philip calls to let me know he has boarded and his flight should be leaving on time, when i realize I left my laptop at home. This is what comes of taking so much time off! My habits are off and I’m out of practice at getting out of the house with everything I need. On the Road Again! Yea, I...

Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise. Cry Me a River. August 5, 2014. I like caramelized onions and onion jams and other savory condiments, but making caramelized onions always seemed like a lot of work for a little payoff. Then I had an Aha! My version requires very little Onions, of course, a little salt, a little oil (your choice could be butter could be olive oil, could be Wesson you decide) and, if you want, a little balsamic vinegar and a little brown sugar. You Say Tomato | Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise
https://culdesacinparadise.wordpress.com/2015/06/10/you-say-tomato
Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise. June 10, 2015. This year, there is a farmer’s market on our drive to work that opens early each Wednesday morning. This makes stopping in to pick up a bit of fresh produce very easy. It is not a very large market, but then, do I need 8 choices of home grown tomato, or will one or two do? We picked up tomatoes, cantaloupe, green pepper and fresh garlic on our first stop, and all of it was great. So, do you garden? Do you preserve your harvest? The Best Laid Plans….
New Rule! New Rule! | Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise

Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise. January 28, 2015. This week, I have another life rule. No one over 50 should ever look at a life expectancy chart. I looked at one the other day, originally just to research something– then I checked out my age and how many years the chart said people my age have left, on average. Not as many as I’d expected or hoped! I would have been happier not knowing! But, I will stand by my new addition to things never to do. Some things can’t be unseen! Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Living on a Cul De Sac in Paradise. The Best Laid Plans…. May 3, 2015. I have been in charge of planning an Annual Summit for leaders of an organization for the last couple of years. For the one in April 2015, I’d spent over 6 months working with committees, coordinating with the venue, planning the meals, entertainment, awards presentations, sending invitations and working on the agenda of what was going to be a great 4 day meeting. And then I didn’t get to go. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

In The Land of The Living Skies II: Sunday Ramblings
http://inthelandofthelivingskiesii.blogspot.com/2015/08/sunday-ramblings.html
In The Land of The Living Skies II. Sunday, August 9, 2015. A busy Saturday and Sunday on the old homestead. I have been busy getting the harvest in and going to yard sales (especially those garage sales put on by friends). The rest of my days have been spent getting the garden in. I have dried sage, rosemary, and thyme. Gotten them into bags ready for winter. I am hoping to get more dried as I continue to follow the hunter/gatherer tradition. I made some Mint Jelly. Everybody have a wonderful evening.

In The Land of The Living Skies II: July 2015
http://inthelandofthelivingskiesii.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
In The Land of The Living Skies II. Friday, July 31, 2015. It is hard to believe that this is the last day of July. My goodness the summer seems to be just flying by. I have had a very frugal week and kept spending to just some bills and a few needed groceries. In fact I have managed 4 no spend days so far. Harvey and Kris went fishing last Saturday and have replenished our dwindling supply of fish fillets in the freezer. Pretty much free food, and two of the men in my life get to bond a bit more. I cont...

In The Land of The Living Skies II: Frugal Fridays
http://inthelandofthelivingskiesii.blogspot.com/2015/08/frugal-fridays.html
In The Land of The Living Skies II. Friday, August 7, 2015. This has been a very quiet day. Other than going shopping and over to a friends for coffee nothing much has been happening. I stuck to my grocery/household items list except for one thing. I bought a book. Not just any book, but one that was 40% off, and one that I really want to read. I am now the proud owner of "Go Set A Watchman" by Harper Lee and can hardly wait to start it. Picked up these plums that had blown to the ground as well. Hope yo...

In The Land of The Living Skies II. Friday, January 30, 2015. Sorry that I didn't post yesterday, but I had a conference call for a committee that I am on. It took forever to get everything settled and we had to postpone the big meeting until March due to the chairperson being gone when the date was first picked. Harvey has moved on to his next project on the house. He has decided that I need an easier access to the shelf over the stairs and this is his solution. Now the cords are in one container and no...

In The Land of The Living Skies II: Menu Monday
http://inthelandofthelivingskiesii.blogspot.com/2015/08/menu-monday.html
In The Land of The Living Skies II. Monday, August 3, 2015. Since I spent most of the day working with garden produce, or household chores Harvey surprised me with a fast food meal. It hit the spot after a day's work. Leftover Ham made into a casserole. Serving this with salad. Soup and sandwiches (we have kind of missed this over the past two weeks). Bacon wrapped filets, tin foil potatoes and carrots. Serving the leftover salad with this. Baked fish, rice, and corn. Fresh veggies and dip on the side.

In The Land of The Living Skies II. Monday, August 31, 2015. Menu Monday, Goal Update, Declutter Update (Wow is that a mouthful). First off the menus for supper this week. Soup and egg salad sandwiches. Leftover pork roast made into a casserole or perhaps some hash. I am making Cabbage Bread today, and since it is pretty much an all day job, we will be having some for our supper. Leftover ham made into ham and scalloped potatoes. German Glace and eggs. Either Clean out the fridge or Hot dogs over the fire.

In The Land of The Living Skies II. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. End Of The Month Update and Bloggy Give Away. It is the end of another month and time to update everyone on my goals. How did I do? 1 Sew the top I have cut out. This has been on my list for the last couple of months. Done, barely, but still done. I finished it yesterday. 5 Plan out the quilt for our bedroom. Did. This, I planned out the individual blocks just need to figure out the colours for the borders and the colours around the blocks.

In The Land of The Living Skies II. Friday, October 31, 2014. The night of ghosts and goblins. We don't get many trick or treaters anymore, it seems as if most people take their children to the fancier, newer part of town. We have only had three so far and it is almost 7 pm. Hoping for a few more. This is the extent of my decorating for today. Supper was wonderful. In keeping with one of my goals to make new and different meals, tonight I made Maple Salmon. Everybody have a wonderful evening. I did spend...

In The Land of The Living Skies II: Thursday Tid Bits
http://inthelandofthelivingskiesii.blogspot.com/2015/08/thursday-tid-bits.html
In The Land of The Living Skies II. Thursday, August 6, 2015. It has been a dismal day here. Cloudy, drizzling off and on, the only nice thing was it has been cool and we have not had to have the air conditioning on at all. Plants were watered, garden picked and some of the produce given away. I managed to get 6 large cucumbers, and some cherry tomatoes. Harvey picked corn and some large tomatoes. A lovely harvest to tide us over a few days. Everybody have a wonderful evening. That corn looks great!

The Cul-De-Sac Hero
A heroic voice of reason from the land of two car families. Mild-mannered family man goes roaming the Internet defending truth on behalf of the everyman. Friday, January 17, 2014. Over A Year Has Passed. It has been over a year now since I confronted misandry onthe streets of Toronto. At the OCAD campus on Richmond St. and wrote my famousAVFM article. I haven’t had time to address any of what the artist has been saying at her Tumblr blog. But culture is not just the laws, you say. Well, laws are an e...

A heroic voice of reason from the tamed suburban jungle. White Nationalism is Dumb. I wrote this several months ago. I haven’t pushed forth this idea because I am basically a libertarian at heart. Ideas like destroying terrorist-inspiring mosques, churches or other organizations are certainly not libertarian. But here we are with this giant government and divisive factions trying to wrest control of it. The white ethno-state is a non-starter. This might be opening a bureaucratic can of worms; but, look a...

Enough with the potlucks! June 2, 2012. There is no such place. I’ve had it with invitations to parties that come with catering assignments. 8220;Bring an appetizer to share and whatever you want to drink,” reads the latest GNO invite to hit my inbox. It’s just the latest in a string of invitations where the hostess seems to be willing to open the front door but that’s about it – the guests are pressed into service supplying the refreshments. When did potlucking become such a suburban meme? May 22, 2012.
