The Curious Experiences of a Family in Beijing

The Curious Experiences of a Family in Beijing. Friday, March 1, 2013. It's been difficult to explain why Liu Ayi's retirement threw us for such a loop. In part, it was completely unexpected. She'd planned to retire after we left. Granted, we kept pushing that date back. But still, we thought our parting would be as the three of us got on a plane headed for wherever it is we go to from here. That we'd be doing the leaving. Is it really possible for one person to have played all those roles in our family?

The Curious Experiences of a Family in Beijing: December 2010

http://www.curiousexperienceinbeijing.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

The Curious Experiences of a Family in Beijing. Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Traveling the Silk Road - Kashgar and Lake Karakol. While we definitely enjoyed every stop on our trip, Kashgar is the cherry on top. Maybe it is because the ancient city is being torn down faster than you can imagine. Maybe it is because it is 80% Uighur. Maybe because the old markets are so sensory - sounds, smells, textures.Whatever the reason, Kashgar was the reason for our trip and it did not disappoint.

The Curious Experiences of a Family in Beijing. Wednesday, April 18, 2012. On Sunday I went with Stella and her girl scout troop to YueHe Migrant School (月河 Moon River). We held a joint sports day with about 20 pupils from the school. The children were mixed together and put on teams and rotated through 8 different sports stations.
