All about our family living in Upper Bavaria. Melinda and Rosebud in Murnau. I am blessed to have my daughter Rosebud and Superdude. I feel equally lucky that I get to stay home with both my children since our move to Bavaria. In my former life, I taught German (levels 1 through AP) at Hamilton Southeastern High School. And prior to that, both French and German at North Central HS in Indianapolis, IN. Once both children are old enough, perhaps I will have the opportunity to teach here. You are commenting...

My years in service and food. Taco Lasagna Casserole A la Bowmans in Bavaria. Tuesday, May 25, 2010. My lovely friend Melinda, of Bowmans. Asked for folks to test out her Taco Lasagna recipe. I jumped on the opportunity, and boy am I glad I did. It's basically anything you'd want from taco night in one place-cheesy, meaty, tortilla-y, you know. The whole nine yards. Here we go:. Taco Lasagna Casserole - by Melinda Bowman. 1 pound ground meat (like hamburger, turkey or mix of pork and hamburger). 3 In a s...

Anne Can Cook: Sesame Broccoli with Rice Noodles
http://annecancook.blogspot.com/2010/08/sesame-broccoli-with-rice-noodles.html
My years in service and food. Sesame Broccoli with Rice Noodles. Posted on Monday, August 30, 2010. Last weekend, my youngest aunt and her family were in town for a preseason football game. They were gracious enough to bring me up some stuff from home. I suspect my mom got a bit carried away with cleaning out her cookbook cupboard, because she sent me something like twenty editions of Taste of Home Quick Cooking. But I love Taste of Home, so this is totally okay. For the July/ August. 1 Tbsp. sugar.

Anne Can Cook: Look What I Made: Pumpkin Spice Scones with Ginger Molasses Drizzle
http://annecancook.blogspot.com/2010/10/look-what-i-made-pumpkin-spice-scones.html
My years in service and food. Look What I Made: Pumpkin Spice Scones with Ginger Molasses Drizzle. Posted on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Last week, some of my coworkers had a dessert and wine potluck. I had metric tons of pumpkin lying around, so I decided to dig out my old pumpkin spice scone recipe. Trouble was, I had misplaced my old recipe notebook from college. Which is a thoroughly delightful blog that everyone should check out. It is obvious from my picture that I never got there. Remember that tim...

Anne Can Cook: September 2010
http://annecancook.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
My years in service and food. Monday, September 27, 2010. Last weekend, when Andrew and I went to the orchard, I bought a pumpkin. Not a Jack-o-Lantern sized pumpkin. I bought a small, 4-5 pound little pumpkin. And I must be crazy, because my intention was to cook it. Which is exactly what I did. Anne Can Cook Presents: How to make your own pumpkin puree in 8 sort of easy steps. It doesn't have to be perfect. Step Two: Scoop out the seeds. Step Three: Scrape off the slimy stuff. Step Six: Boil that biz.

Anne Can Cook: Grilled Cheese and Thoughts on Food Trends
http://annecancook.blogspot.com/2010/09/grilled-cheese-and-thoughts-on-food.html
My years in service and food. Grilled Cheese and Thoughts on Food Trends. Posted on Sunday, September 19, 2010. I know that grilled cheese is not a big deal to make, and it seems like a weird thing to feature on a food blog. The reason I'm including this at all is to comment on my own cooking style. Is something I can't necessarily replicate worth putting on the blog? Those sorts of things don't seem like a big deal to me, since they're just me futzing around in the kitchen. So here we are. Andrew and I ...
