In 1979 Salvatore D’Angelo began his search for the land on which to plant his vineyard. An accomplished amateur winemaker, his ambition was to start his own winery within the heart of Essex County, in Southern Ontario. In 1983 he bought 50 acres in Amherstburg, just south of Windsor . THE WINE LINEUP AT OUR ONTARIO WINERY. 2010 VQA MARECHAL FOCH. This rich, dark, full-bodied wine was made from the oldest vines on our property, which were planted in 1999. It was fermented on its skins for seven days and barrel aged for 18 months. 8203;This dessert wine was made by adding Canadian spirits on day three of the fermentation, thus raising the alcohol level to 15.4% and leaving the remaining natural sugar fermented. THE WINE LINEUP AT OUR BRITISH COLUMBIA WINERY. This vintage is from our one-acre block of Viognier, showcasing its floral and honeysuckle attributes along with some peach and tart apple flavours. PINOT NOIR 2011 RISERVA VQA. Aged for 18 months in French and Hungarian Oak, displays a darker garnet colour and has a spicy pepper finish. This Meritage or Bordeaux blend is full and ripe with lots of dark fruits, showcasing red fruit with a touch of apple skin and leathery flavours.
