Life in Wherever I am at the Moment. Skip to primary content. July 7, 2015. I have been traveling a lot. I love it and I chose to do it, but it gets tiring just the same. Since my last post, I flew to Oita Prefecture. On Japan’s Southernmost major island of Kyushu. For a work seminar. I learned all about the Walk Japan. That’s all for now. I’m headed tomorrow to my brother’s wedding in Eugene, Oregon. Congratulations Jon and Makaya, I’m happy for you. This entry was posted in Life. July 7, 2015 at 8:51 pm.

How could they have done all those horrible things in the war? Weren’t they the ones that did the bombing? 8221; There are so many weighty topics contained within that question that it would take a whole book to lay out. I just wanted to share this personal story that I remember so clearly. The war is over but it’s impact is certainly not. Before discussing the q...

Life in Wherever I am at the Moment. Skip to primary content. In case you ever have a LOT of time on your hands and would like to read my senior thesis, here it is. This paper was born out of my interest in Africa, as well as traditional aid’s colossal failure to address poverty. The Ethics of Food Aid. Colonial rulers wreaked havoc on the colony that would be the DRC and set the stage for exploitative and corrupt systems for generations to come. To begin, many people fervently believe in the efficacy of...

My experience today shows me that perhaps I have retained a few too many of my Kenyan driving habits. Also, interesting things tend to happen around Elbert, like my Japanese hiking trip 2 years ago if you want to read about it. The Most Interesting Man on the Nakasendo. August 16, 2016. Stories from Nearly Disastrous Days | danieljamesmoore

Life in Wherever I am at the Moment. Skip to primary content. Stories from Nearly Disastrous Days. July 28, 2015. As a travel professional, you learn that experiencing nearly disastrous days is a given. Heck, sometimes you even have actually disastrous days, like the unmitigated disaster of leading my clients through a blood-sucking leach-infested forest, which you can read about here. The bus finally arrives, and we’re off to Red Rocks. The people are what it’s all about. Rocky Mountain National Park.

Water 1 | Africa: It's not what you think

https://catherinerodd.wordpress.com/2014/06/27/water-1-4

Posted by Catherine Rodd. June 27, 2014. Water, or rather the lack of it, is a significant problem in most of sub-Saharan Africa. Every morning, we load up our 4×4’s with cases of bottles and hope we’ve counted accurately so it lasts the day. For every person we add during our trip, we need to subtract their ration from our stores. In the dry months, fights over water regularly break out between farmers and pastoralists (nomadic herders) over water. Sometimes people are killed. June 27, 2014 at 7:57 pm.

waiting with joy? | faith, hope and wanderlust

https://faithhopeandwanderlust.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/waiting-with-joy

Faith, hope and wanderlust. May 29, 2015. A big, shiny gold sign hangs on my wall that says JOY. It was there when I arrived in Kenya nearly 6 months ago. Sometimes I glance at it peacefully and contemplatively, thanking God for the many blessings he’s given me. Often I barely notice it’s presence, even though it’s next to my front door, at eye level, in one foot tall letters. Dinner date with Janelle, one of the students at RVA that brightens my days. Nate’s dog Mondu, my running buddy. I really wanted ...

Keeping It Simple – globetrottingteen

https://globetrottingteen.wordpress.com/2015/05/18/hello-world

If travel is an addiction, I'm afflicted. May 18, 2015. May 17, 2016. The clue is in the name when it comes to this post and indeed this blog in general; I’m going to keep it simple. Travel writing is a business inundated with hopeful young adventurers desperate for a taste of the journalistic world. It’s an incredibly competitive field and it’s difficult to break into and thus I have realised that the only real way to begin my journey, is to simply start writing. 45 thoughts on “ Keeping It Simple.

VeganMoFo: What’s your favorite late summer food? | Veggie Travel Girl

https://veggietravelgirl.wordpress.com/2015/09/17/veganmofo-whats-your-favorite-late-summer-food

Doing my best to eat vegetarian while traveling. VeganMoFo: What’s your favorite late summer food? Growing up in Minnesota the end of summer means one thing – tomatoes! Oz mini penne, cooked and drained. 1 package of cherry tomatoes. 1 jar of kalamata olives. Italian dressing – I like Good Seasons dressing mix packets, but your choice of Italian dressing will work well too. Tofu feta (optional) – soak some small cubes of pressed tofu in the kalamata olive juice. 1 package of vegan pepperoni (optional).

Doing my best to eat vegetarian while traveling. VeganMoFo: Share something vegan (and delicious, duh! I’m back from a brief VeganMoFo hiatus since we were traveling to Michigan for a wedding. No great vegan finds to report as our stay was very brief. While I was in Minnesota, I did manage to make vegan pancakes for my mom and husband, as well as mushroom stroganoff for my parents, which they happily ate up with no complaints. I used this recipe. Ruben’s Salad Dressing. 2 Cloves of garlic. VeganMoFo: Wha...

May 30, 2014. May 30, 2014. Coorg – Rejuvenation Guaranteed. Google up and you will find nestled amid ageless hills that line the southernmost edge of Karnataka is the luscious Kodagu (Coorg) region, gifted with emerald landscapes and acres of plantations. A major centre for coffee and spice production, this rural expanse is also home to the unique Kodava race, believed to have descended from migrating Persians and Kurds or perhaps Greeks left behind from Alexander the Great’s armies. This portfolio documents the tension (and tradition) between full-body portraiture and my subjects' indigenous spaces. I use the term "indigenous" loosely as most of the subjects are photographed in their own neighborhoods, while a few are in spaces that have symbolic meaning to them alone.
