Beliefspace Studio: September 2012
http://beliefspacestudio.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Saturday, 15 September 2012. Systems Integration Part 2. The second episode in Systems Integration: XLR Patching. A great bulk of thee effort, involved with building this, was in bolting the XLR sockets into the patch panel, each socket requiring two tiny bolts and self-locking nuts. This process, in itself, took a good couple of hours to work through all 96 fixings. Should be incredibly easy to route signals from now on. Sunday, 2 September 2012. Going for DB2...

Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Thursday, 13 December 2012. Electrickery - Getting started building effects pedals. Quite a few people have approached me recently asking about how I got into electronics and, more specifically, building guitar effects pedals. So I decided to write this blog as some pointers on how to start out. In order to quickly put circuits together you'll need to have some prototyping equipment. I started out with the following gear. 163;5-£25 depending on size). It's impo...

Beliefspace Studio: March 2013
http://beliefspacestudio.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Friday, 8 March 2013. This week work continued on the small outbuildings which will serve as client facilities to the studio. I have to say it's been a real battle finding a decent electrician throughout the project . I've waited in for no-shows, been messed around and, at one point, had to go and buy earth sleeving for an electrician who was completely unprepared! Who did excellent work which is fully tested, certified and guaranteed for five years.

Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Monday, 24 November 2014. On Friday evening we suffered a burst valve in our boiler, resulting in a major water leak into the studio corridor and recording room. More here: Water Damage. This weekend we've been busy planning, clearing and cleaning. After the main equipment was rescued on Friday with the help of my excellent band members, Helen and I managed to get all the sensitive equipment, stored in the corridor, upstairs away from the water. After discussin...

Beliefspace Studio: June 2012
http://beliefspacestudio.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Tuesday, 12 June 2012. Last Wednesday I invited Gareth from Audient, down to dBs Music to give students, staff and myself an overview of the new ASP4816 Analogue Console. A (not too heavily) cut down version of the ASP8024. I had a great day, recording the four piece Sky vs. Mountain through this console onto Pro Tools. Phenomenally easy to use and very well designed. So this, is the console that, will be forming the (analogue) heart of Beliefspace Studio.

Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Saturday, 22 November 2014. Yesterday evening we suffered a boiler leak resulting in a lot of water damage to the studio corridor and recording room. Fortunately, it was right at the beginning of a rehearsal so I had my awesome band mates and my lovely wife there to help me find and stop the leak, and deal with the damage. The floor looked a lot better this morning after drying out, and better gain this evening. So, where do we go from here? This afternoon, we ...

Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Tuesday, 17 July 2012. The Ampex MM1200 arrived today courtesy of Leo, who kindly donated it to the cause. We had a complete mission getting the 26" wide machine in the 27" wide live room/studio door, but after a bit of "persuasion" from four strong individuals, we coaxed it through, just! Here it is, standing in the control room. The next challenge is to get it working. Fortunately Lewis of Stardelta Mastering. Tuesday, 3 July 2012. Consoles and Bunny Rabbits.

Beliefspace Studio: Amplifiers and Effects Pedals
http://beliefspacestudio.blogspot.com/2013/08/amplifiers-and-effects-pedals.html
Beliefspace recording studio official blog. Wednesday, 7 August 2013. Amplifiers and Effects Pedals. We've been doing some upgrading and cross-grading of guitar gear this summer. First to go were the Fender Blues Junior and Mesa Boogie 5:25 Express combos (both of which found excellent new homes). We wanted more flexibility in cabinet swapping, etc. so they have been replaced with. An Orange OR15 7 watt/15 watt head. And a Mesa 5:25 Express Plus 5/15/25 watt head. We also acquired a Fulltone Deja Vibe.
