Baking and Cooking Goals. 124; Comments RSS. Tuesdays with Dorie (87). Posted on May 7, 2010. Every year I get excited when I see strawberries in the grocery store. I’m not really big on fruit desserts, but I do love strawberry shortcake, cupcakes, and ice cream. I saw these cupcakes at the perfect time and decided to make them to celebrate this beautiful warmer weather that we’ve been blessed with! Source: Confections of a Foodie Bride. Lemon Lemon Cake | Dinner & Dessert

Baking and Cooking Goals. 124; Comments RSS. Tuesdays with Dorie (87). Posted on March 1, 2010. No, that title isn’t a mistake. This cake is so packed full of lemon flavor, it had to be named twice! It’s almost like a pound cake, but very light in texture. It’s very full of lemon- there’s lemon in the cake, then you glaze it with a lemon syrup, and then the optional lemon glaze (but don’t let it be optional…definitely include it! This is as must-make for the lemon lovers that you know! FOR THE LEMON CAKE.

OUR FAMILY: April 2010
http://gehmanfamily.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 5, 2010. If thats a term. Finally getting our Easter pictures up. We had such a nice weekend up here. It was REALLY warm for this time of year, which was so nice! Last Easter we had winter coats on, and this Easter we were wearing short-sleeves! Josh and I got to go see the Easter production at our church on Wednesday with some friends and NO kids! Up to something - as usual! And it was so much fun to do! Like our fancy easter baskets? Abby trying to get her egg open. She loves to swing.
Vanilla Bean: July 2010

When it comes to dessert, one of my favourite types has to be of the creamy and custard variety. I love the rich, smooth, and most of the time, cold refreshing taste of a nicely cooked custard. I've always had my questions about creme caramel. Is it the same thing as flan? Does it actually just slip out of the ramekin? Does the caramel sauce not mingle and bleed into the custard when you pour the custard into the ramekin and bake it? Adapted from "the best of Cooking Light". 1/3 cup granulated sugar.

Tools of the Trade. Home & Garden. How To Start a Food Blog. Peanut Butter-Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. February 24, 2010. What you have here is the ultimate trifecta of cookie goodness:. As you might imagine, these are fabulous. Soft and tender from the peanut butter, a slight toasted flavor from the oats and just the right amount of sweetness from the chocolate chips. I think you’ll want to go ahead and start preheating your oven before you even read the rest of this post…. Makes about 16 cookies.
Pecan and Salted Caramel Cheesecake - Bake or Break
http://www.bakeorbreak.com/recipes/2009/02/18/pecan-and-salted-caramel-cheesecake
Cobblers, crisps, & crumbles. Pies & tarts. February 18, 2009. Pecan and Salted Caramel Cheesecake. Recently, I read somewhere that 2008 was a big year for salted caramel. I don’t think I’m in any position to agree or disagree with that, but I will say that I had a little love affair with it myself. (Hello, salted caramel hot chocolate! On its own, there is nothing exceptional about the cheesecake. The difference is the caramel. The salt portion is sprinkled on top, so you can use as little or as...To ma...

I decided to make tartlettes, just because I like the idea of having individual desserts. I made the crust and filled the tartlettes with the curd a day ahead, since I was working all day the next day. Just before serving, I whipped up the meringue and topped the tartlettes. I don't have one of those fancy propane blow torches, so I used the broiler (for the first time! We got a new stove, and so now we actually have a functioning broiler! I have to say, the meringue topping carmelized extremely fast!
Stephanie's Pantry: Divine Flourless Chocolate Cake- the easy way

If it's not chocolate, it's not dessert. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Divine Flourless Chocolate Cake- the easy way. If you've never had flourless chocolate cake, you don't know what you're missing. Incredibly rich, moist, dense, it is a chocolate lover's dream. And I promise- anyone can make this. Use your kitchenaid for this and it's a snap. This one has now officially became my favorite. Be sure to serve it with a healthy dose of fresh whipped cream to cut the richness of the cake. 6 T whipping cream.
OUR FAMILY: October 2010
http://gehmanfamily.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 28, 2010. The Long Story Made Somewhat Short. In attempt to update my blog and catch it up to where we are now. I'm going to highlight each month (or try too)! The last real post I did was in June when Nate had his first hair cut. Mimi came at the end of June and we went to a fair, strawberry picking, and did lots of playing! July was a packed out month! We went to the cabin for the 4th (annual Gehman family tradition). Will going down the slip-n-slide. Nate excited about everything!
OUR FAMILY: then we come home to this...
http://gehmanfamily.blogspot.com/2011/05/then-we-come-home-to-this.html
Friday, May 20, 2011. Then we come home to this. In march and april we had cold cold weather and snow. It was crazy! We really got sick of this weather toward the end. We did go out sledding a lot, build more snowmen, and made snow ice cream (which was so yummy). I also got some more sewing time in, since we were cooped up in the house a lot. This was Abby's favorite dress I made her because it twirls! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Click on an individual picture if you wish to view it larger.

Cooking This and That: Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Soup
http://cookingthisandthat.blogspot.com/2012/11/slow-cooker-cheeseburger-soup.html
Cooking This and That. Simple side dishes. Elaborate dinner parties. Decadent desserts. And everything in between! Thursday, November 15, 2012. Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Soup. So delicious - this will definitely be added into my favorite recipe file. I added a few dashes of Tabasco sauce before turning on the slow cooker to add a little more spice. Definitely try this with the pickles and ketchup as garnish - sounds weird but adds to the flavor! I served this alongside Texas Toast and a green salad.

Cooking This and That: June 2012
http://cookingthisandthat.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Cooking This and That. Simple side dishes. Elaborate dinner parties. Decadent desserts. And everything in between! Saturday, June 30, 2012. Artichoke, Romaine, and Cherry Tomato Salad with Balsamic Dijon Vinaigrette. I've made this salad a few times now, and I am really posting this for the dressing recipe. It's a fantastic dressing that would be good on any savory salad (meaning probably not so great on a salad with fruit or candied nuts). Make a batch and see what you think! Thursday, June 28, 2012.

Swoon: Styled Wedding Shoot. Get to Know me. Let’s Talk Creative Burnout. As an artist, creativity is the lifeblood in my career. Inspiration, and I think we can all agree on this; is unique and vague, in short it’s everywhere. Right? But, where does creativity come from? This question I think, begs a big answer and forgive me if you’ve skipped ahead and already decided it’s cheeseball and cliche. But really, if there is a legitimate answer to the question,. Burnout is good, it’s natural and in cas...
