Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: A Day In the Life of "Rosie's Mom"
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-day-in-life-of-rosies-mom.html
Tuesday, April 14, 2015. A Day In the Life of "Rosie's Mom". These conversations leave us feeling frustrated and misunderstood. Luckily, these conversations are few and far between. Our main goal is for people to see that Rosie is much more alike than she is different from her peers. In an attempt to drill the point home, we thought it would be fun to give you a sample of what a day in the life of Rosie's mom looks like. I think that we lead a delightfully ordinary life. You be the judge. 9:45 AM: We lea...

Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: "Daddy-Daughter Day" was missing something...
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2013/08/daddy-daughter-day-was-missing-something.html
Saturday, August 17, 2013. Daddy-Daughter Day" was missing something. Before you begin reading this post and wondering, "Why has Melissa's writing lost its lovely flow and eloquence? You should know that Melissa isn't writing this post at all. No, Melissa is preoccupied gallivanting around the Old Port of Portland with a bachelorette and her posse (likely making questionable decisions). So instead, you are all stuck with me, Caleb. My apologies. Thanks for everything, baby! Maine Down Syndrome Network.

Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: Live in the Moment
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2013/11/live-in-present.html
Monday, November 11, 2013. Live in the Moment. Since it takes Rosalie longer to reach her developmental milestones, it is easy to forget that time is passing by. and quickly. Each day, I enjoy her cuddles, her smiles, and her little chuckles. I love having her with me always. I am so. Lucky to be her mommy. No Raking small objects? No Sitting on her own? Only from back to belly. Each "no" got harder and harder to admit to. Now that I'm back to my normal self, that all sounds horrible! I am positively bur...

Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: Sipping from a Straw!
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2014/06/sipping-from-straw.html
Sunday, June 8, 2014. Sipping from a Straw! We have this great cup called a Bear Bottle from ARK. Basically, there is a valve at the bottom of the straw that prevents the fluids in the straw from dropping back into the cup after every sip. This makes it so Rosie has to do less work while learning how to sip. Another neat feature is that you can squeeze the bottle and fluid will be pushed out of the straw (kind of like what happens if you squeeze a juice box)! A similar cup is made by Talk Tools. For ...

Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: Trip Out West
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2014/12/trip-out-west.html
Monday, December 1, 2014. It's hard to believe but Caleb is nearly finished with medical school! The time for residency interviews has arrived. We made the decision several months ago to branch out and apply not only to programs in New England, but across the United States. Caleb is interested in practicing rural family medicine and we really want to find the program that will best prepare him for this unique field of medicine. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A few months ago, I noticed that Rosalie ...

Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: First Ice Cream of the Season
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/first-ice-cream-of-season.html
Tuesday, April 14, 2015. First Ice Cream of the Season. It's April in Maine and the snow is MELTING! I think we are all ready for some sun and warm weather. When it hit 60 degrees this weekend, we couldn't resist walking down to Gifford's for our first ice cream of the season. Rosalie held her own cone the entire way home which was very exciting for her and us! This bath was SO necessary after that ice cream. June 25, 2015 at 12:40 PM. Cramming, Cooking, and Car Seats: Happy Father's Day!
http://theswanbergfamily.blogspot.com/2013/06/happy-fathers-day.html
Sunday, June 16, 2013. Caleb Holding Rosalie for the First Time. Over the years, my husband has shared some wonderful memories with me about his childhood. From chasing cows to helping with home renovation projects, Caleb and his brothers were always busy! Caleb and his Father. My poor father had his hands full while raising my sisters and I. If you count my mom, the he was outnumbered 4-1! As you can imagine, this molded him into a man who was fiercely protective of his girls, but also secretly soft-hea...
