March 4, 2016. March 7, 2016. Big Owl in My Backyard. So this happened 2 weekends ago. I went out back into my yard and almost stepped into this huge pile of bird crap on the ground. It was right under a large fir tree in the yard. Lo and behold, a Great Horned Owl was perched just above my head. It was amazing! I rushed back into the house and grabbed my 400mm. He’s been over shooting some studio shots and his first visit he brought a book he needed some photos of for his wedding website. December 2, 2016. December 2, 2016. Vintage Singer Sewing Machine. Here’s an old Singer Sewing Machine. It’s a cool little unit and I was hoping it would help me with my lighting because of its reflective surfaces. I shot this particular photo with a wider lens and a shallow dept of field. Actually, I shot a ton of pics of this machine at various F stops, crazy lighting combinations and a myriad of camera angles. I really liked this photo though as the subject “Filled the Frame”! I’ve quelled riots and I don’t recall having started any, but I am willing to learn. Listening is a lost art as is writing. I currently reside in Midland, TX where it is so flat that you can stand on a 1 gal paint can and watch your dog run away for 3 days. I write short stories, poetry, and have finished one book on Oilfield Safety and working on my second book that contains short stories of my travels and experiences.
