Experimental Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour (EXEB): September 2014
https://exeblund.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 25, 2014. A second try to go the Himalayas. Posted by Erik Svensson. Since we did not have time to discuss the paper on avian species diversity in eastern Himalaya last week. Due to the fact that we enjoyed so much listening to Jessica's talk and drinking cava, we make a new try this coming week. Here is the paper by Trevor Price. And his colleagues in Nature. For a short summary of the findings in the paper I also recomment this a brief comment about the study by Arne Mooers. We will...

Experimental Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour (EXEB): Hello and goodbye
https://exeblund.blogspot.com/2015/05/hello-and-goodbye.html
Friday, May 22, 2015. Posted by Jessica Abbott. As anyone who follows this blog will have noticed, we recently gained two new members. However we also lost an old member, Maren Wellenreuther, not too long ago. Maren left EXEB and the Evolutionary Ecology unit a couple of months ago to rejoin MEMEG, as she felt this would be a better fit for her. Although this is of course a loss for us, we respect Maren's decision and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Friday, February 27, 2015. The social essence of sexual selection. Posted by Beatriz Willink. For next Tuesday we will read a paper on the evolutionary neurobiology of male–female interactions, which argues for looking at sexual selection in a social context. I hope it inspires an interesting discussion. 10:30 March 3, 2015. A rgumentet, Ekologihuset 2. Darwin’s forgotten idea: The social essence of sexual selection. Written by Beatriz Willink. Experimental Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour (EXEB): March 2015
https://exeblund.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. This Easter Tuesday I thought we could read a paper that would be of interest to the most of us. There are pretty phylogenetic trees for the Svensson lab and the main focus is sex chromosomes, which we like in the Abbott lab :). 10:30 in A rgumentet, I'll bring fika. A recent bottleneck of Y chromosome diversity coincides with a global change in culture. Link: http:/ genome.cshlp.org/content/early/2015/03/13/gr.186684.114.abstract. Monday, March 23, 2015. Experimental Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour (EXEB): Maternal effects and epigenetics in humans
https://exeblund.blogspot.com/2015/05/maternal-effects-and-epigenetics-in.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Maternal effects and epigenetics in humans. Elmar Tobi from Leiden University Medical Centre is visiting this week. He will give us an informal overview of his research showing how exposure to poor nutrition during early development affects the epigenome, using the famous longitudinal study of the Dutch hunger winter cohort. In other words, maternal effects, epigenetics, and how they affect health and disease. The title is: Epigenetic consequences of the Dutch famine. Research ap...
