http://www.emilyreason.com/biography.html
Photo by Francesco Lombardo. I am interested in the function of forms and the decorative surface that they lend themselves to. I approach new ideas as a series of work and an exploration of proportion, texture, color and intended use. My inspiration is drawn from the foods I enjoy cooking and serving, my surrounding environment, Chinese ceramics and forms found in nature. Emily exhibits her work nationally; notably at the Smithsonian Craft Show; Philadelphia Museum Craft Show; Mint Museum Show in Charlot...

A student's journey in clay. Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Just finished with all my "wet work" today and thanks to my blowdryer and boxfan, they are all sitting on the bisque shelf ready to be fired off tomorrow. The last few days have been a bit stressful trying to get all my decorating done. I wasn't behind until Monday when I left the studio with my bag of ceramics tool on the roof of my car. Sadly, they were not there when I got home. Posted by April Rexroad. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A student's journey in clay. Wednesday, October 29, 2008. What a beautiful morning! The sun is shining, it's a little chilly outside (for Florida) but I have my cup of tea so all is well with the world. My baby brother is flying in from Illinois today to stay with us for 5 days and I'm really looking forward to seeing him again! As far as studio news, I've been working really hard the last couple days to get my etsy site up and running but it officially went live Monday night. Yay! Posted by April Rexroad.

A student's journey in clay. Thursday, October 7, 2010. Finally, I am back in blogland. A lot has happened in the past three months and while I tried to document it, I didn't have enough time for sleep much less for updating my blog. This first picture is my new studio from about a week ago, round two of making a very large special order for one of my customers. The first time there was a glaze mixing mishap and they all needed to be remade (moral of the story? Next on the agenda? Posted by April Rexroad.

A student's journey in clay. Saturday, September 19, 2009. I have been wasting today away surfing on the web and I have come across a few images I just had to share! These first few I came across looking up embroidery patterns. The first one I will be printing out to try on a test tile or two. I love the way the lines of the bird sort of blend into the foliage surrounding it! Posted by April Rexroad. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Visit My Etsy Shoppe. Saturday, August 13, 2011. This Friday was my very first pay day! Praise baby Jesus, because my funds were getting a little low. But the second I saw my paycheck in my bank account, this song immediately came into my head. Slightly fantastic, slightly depressing. You be the judge. Next, if you've watched the video, I bet you've noticed each of these fantastic tidbits:. What's with the tie-dyed pimp suits? You can't say you didn't enjoy how they actually acted out exactly what they were saying in the song.

Although I wish I had better sales to report, I still had a pretty good time at the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands. Seemed a lot of folks were in Asheville from out of town to see what is no doubt one of the most colorful leaf seasons we've had in recent years. It's always nice to be at a show amongst friends. My friend in pottery and blogging Joy Tanner. Was there and I sure did enjoy chatting and trading with my neighbors Jeff and Crim Bassett of Bee Global. See a list of exhibitors here. This Fa...

Emmy Liveblogs! | the ramblings of a madcap idiot
The ramblings of a madcap idiot. March 31, 2014. Emmy Liveblogs, Game of Thrones: Prologue. Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. I’ve been meaning to read this for a while, this should be exciting! E should start back,” Gared urged as the woods began to grow dark around them. “The wildlings are dead.”. 8220;Do they frighten you? 8221; Ser Waymar Royce asked with just the hint of a smile. 8220;Are they dead? 8221; Royce asked softly. “What proof have we? (M)aking b(e)auty | "Things are beautiful if you love them." -Jean Anouilh
Things are beautiful if you love them. -Jean Anouilh. May 18, 2012. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about what is good. About what makes a person good. I think it’s really easy to get caught up in our failures or in our missteps. We screw up and we focus on only that–like it cancels out anything we do right. It’s very similar to how we give so much weight to negative things people say about us over the positive things. February 16, 2012. January 26, 2012. January 24, 2012. January 23, 2012. I’ve...
